Goofs for
Balls of Fury (2007)

advertisement
  • Factual errors: Karl Wolfschtagg's Olympic uniform should have read 'DDR' (Deutsche Demokratische Republik, the German name) rather than 'GDR', the English name for East Germany. Olympic country names are customarily rendered in their native language.

  • Errors in geography: The Peppermill is not located on the downtown strip of Reno, NV.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Rodriguez tells Randy that the Cantonese word "gweilo" means "round-eye." The literal translation is "white ghost" and it is most commonly translated as "foreign devil". However, this line is probably a joke.

  • Anachronisms: A flag of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is shown at the games of 88 in Seoul. The flag was first officially hoisted on 1 July 1997, in the handover ceremony marking the transfer of sovereignty.

  • Factual errors: In individual Olympic sports, competitors are identified by their names, not by their nations (as many individual sports would have multiple competitors from the same nation). Randy Daytona's and Karl Wolfschtagg's names would have appeared on the scoreboard, not "USA" and "GDR," respectively.

  • Factual errors: At the Olympics, a country would be identified with its official national name. "East Germany" would not have been used in official Olympic announcements. Karl Wolfschtagg would have been introduced as a competitor from the "German Democratic Republic."

  • Continuity: The scene after Randy meets face to face with Wolfschtagg, Ernie is seen bringing a coconut to the table and spilling it. Suddenly, it disappears.

  • Continuity: The scene at the theater and Randy is doing his show. After he finishes his show and looks to audience, the man he eventually gives a heart attack begins to stand up. The camera switches to show people eating with a fart sound, and the man is sitting there eating. When the camera cuts back he is already standing up.
