Jimmy Kimmel roped Masterminds co-stars Kristen Wiig, Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson into an endearingly fraught game of "Long Distance Charades." The game had the two teams (Wiig and Wilson versus Galifianakis and Kimmel) play a standard game of charades, but from opposite sides of Hollywood Boulevard and using binoculars to watch each other act out movie titles.
Wilson and Kimmel had some early difficulty with Driving Miss Daisy. "You're making tea!" Galifianakis shouted at Kimmel, who was miming picking a daisy. "You're having a tea party!" Later, Wiig broke...

With trailers now in theaters and the 2016 release date slowly inching closer, speculation is growing about Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Most people assume—probably correctly—that Batman will leave the Man of Steel lying in defeat. Batman’s popularity is such that bat-fans would riot if the Dark Knight should lose. However, the fact is…Batman Should lose, and here are five good reasons why.
Batman is the most popular super hero in the world. That’s hard to dispute. Starting with the success of the Batman: The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel, continuing through the staggeringly popular Nolan/Bale films, Batman is the king of comic characters. The fervor people have for this character is such that fans consider him unbeatable given the proper prep-time. That will probably affect the script of the Batman v Superman film, and Superman will end up flat on his back.

Read More: SXSW Review: 'Long Distance' Is an Insightful, Moving Romance For the Technology Age Editor's Note: Indiewire's Springboard column profiles up-and-comers in film worthy of your attention. There are only two actors and two locations in "10,000 Km." The first scene, a long take, lasts 25 minutes. Yet, incredibly, the film never feels claustrophobic. In fact, Carlos Marqués-Marcet's feature-length directorial debut serves as a microcosm for the large implications of modern love. "10,000 Km" is an intimate portrait of the dissolution of a long-distance relationship. When Alex (Natalia Tena) accepts a fellowship in La, she leaves behind her boyfriend of seven years, Sergio (David Verdaguer), in Barcelona. Through the fragmented lens of technology — Skype, text messages, emails, and Facebook — we become privy to the couple's frustrations and conflicting needs and desires. Because we stand inside the very medium that divides...

Chris "Fish" Squire, the heart and soul and, yes, the foundation of iconic prog-rock band Yes, passed away Saturday at the age of 67. He had been battling leukemia, and last month had left the band for the first time -- he is the only member to appear on every Yes album (21 studio albums and a plethora of concert recordings). Squire, who played with a pick, achieved his unique sound by rewiring his Rickenbacker bass to stereo and sending the output of the bass and treble pickups into separate amplifiers. His sound -- and, let it be remembered, his vocals, usually heard in harmony or counterpoint to lead vocalist Jon Anderson's, but still prominent enough to be immediately recognizable -- was integral to the classic Yes albums of the 1970s.
What follows is basically a list of Yes’ best songs, but balanced somewhat by my desire to spread out the...

In an airport, a lone man named Carter Blue, ad agency artist from Columbus, recalls with a strange the day he meet Lee Smith, a scientist from Chicago. Long Distance by writer and artist, Thom Zahler, is a modern romance tale of two lovers with the challenge of many miles between them. Zahler’s slice of life romance is pleasantly written with room to expand on the main characters. His artwork offers a monochromatic color concept to highlight different details in the changes of environment. Carter’s and Lee’s tale of their fledgling romance starts to enchant the reader and provides dashes of realism in the characters’ thoughts.
Carter’s story starts off at an airport where he talks on his cellphone until a young child dressed as Batman bumps into Carter. As the ad agency artist gathers his materials, he begins to dialogue with Lee,...

Read More: SXSW Review: 'Long Distance' Is an Insightful, Moving Romance For the Technology Age Many of us can probably relate to Alex (Natalia Tena) and Sergei (David Verdaguer) the main characters in Carlos Marques-Marcet's "10,000 Km." In the film, the loving, happy couple is forced to carry on a long-distance relationship from 10,000 km (6,200 mi) apart after Alex moves to Los Angeles to pursue an artist's residency while Sergei stays in Barcelona. As the weeks pass, Sergei and Alex find it more and more difficult to maintain their relationship--it's a tough thing to do when you're far away from one another, as anyone who has ever lost touch with a friend or significant other can attest. This film, conducted on Skype through laptops, presents one possible future of romance movies in the digital era, just as "Unfriended" reframes slasher horror for the digital world. Espn’s Colin Cowherd has drawn ire since criticizing Espn 2’s decision to broadcast coverage of an electronic sporting event, a Heroes of the Storm match between Arizona State and Uc Berkeley. And while Cowherd comes across as a typical old guard radio jock shouting “Nerd” into the heavens, his comments do raise the question of e-sport’s role within the existing American sports media-scape.
For all the endless calls for legitimacy from e sports players and fans, there is an archaic streak in the tools utilized to transform computer gaming into spectacle. The way the events themselves are filmed and edited owes more to the aesthetic leftovers of sports broadcasting. The earliest examples of sports on film, like the Edison company reels of the 1903 game between Harvard and Yale, are understandably primitive. But moving image technology and sports photography developed alongside one another. The camera moved from the ground...

Same Old Song: Scant Few Highlights Justify Lengthy Omnibus
Well, alphabet soup horror is back with The ABCs of Death 2, a follow-up to the first installment (The ABCs of Death) which had twenty six different directors helming a short film based on a word starting with each letter. Now, twenty six more directors try their hand at this formula, which is generally hit and miss, a complaint launched the first time around. With short films of such meager running time amidst a sea of similarly constructed items, most of these tend to cancel each other out. A struggle to remain vibrantly memorable also hobbles a sequence or two. And yet, there are a few little masterful strokes here, though enjoying them feels a bit like trudging through a bargain bin.

It’s still nearly a year away, but Pixar wants you to meet the smiling earth pimple who will sing his way into your heart. Lava will play in front of Inside Out in June 2015, and it features two volcanoes in love. If IMDb is to be trusted, it also takes place over millions of years (most likely lived in land-bound, cloud-envying frustration). On its own, the teaser trailer is sweet and lightweight with some excellent time-lapse-aping visuals, but as yet another sign of Pixar’s return to originality and experimentation, it’s also a mountain-sized sigh of relief. Uku (singing in Kuana Torres Kahele‘s unmistakable voice) sings a song that’s essentially “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with different lyrics that still have the same wishful meaning. He wants someone to wrap his foliage-covered arms around. Check it out for yourself: Obviously looking to an unmovable object as the source of longing provides a lot of...

First of all, Angelina Jolie‘s Unbroken looks like a breakout moment for Jack O’Connell, regardless of how the movie itself does overall. He stars as the real-life Louis Zamperini, who did more in his lifetime than we could do in five. Long distance Olympic athlete who met Hitler, WWII Pow survivor, inspirational speaker, Zamerini had a hell of a biography before passing away July 2nd of this year. Now, his story will be secured in cinema with O’Connell at the forefront of what looks like a whirlwind performance. Second of all, my fingers are crossed tight enough to break off circulation, hoping this movie isn’t even one tenth of how schmaltzy a slab of forced inspiration the trailer makes it out to be. It makes sense that Universal would want to sell the movie like this — huge and bombastic with never-give-up lines worthy of Joel Osteen and joyous tears filtering the lens. It...

The saying is especially true for Are You the One? contestants Chris and Shanley, who have a few things to say about their time on MTV’s unnervingly addictive reality series about twenty twenty-somethings who have the opportunity to share a $1,000,000 prize if they can pair off into ten perfectly-matched couples.
Chris and Shanley emerged early on as a favorite couple for viewers, but after the show’s fact-checking truth booth told them they weren’t a match, they continued to flirt and fawn despite jeopardizing the house’s chances at winning the grand prize.

So that's what they look like under all that medieval makeup! The cast of "Game of Thrones" hit the red carpet last night for the Season 4 premiere in NYC -- and they looked almost unrecognizable compared to their on-screen counterparts.Long gone were Daeneryn Targaryen's long blonde tresses, as actress Emilia Clarke was sporting a short, dark 'do for the event. And she wasn't the only one with a totally different look.Lena Heady (Cersei) was rocking dark locks as well, while Carice Van Houten's hair was brunette ... and not Melisandre's unnatural red hue.And though Gwendoline Christie, Maisie Williams and Rose Leslie all skew towards the tomboy side on the HBO series, they all looked gorgeous in a collection of black and white dresses. As for the men, they looked totally different as well, with shaved faces and tamed hair. And wait until you see what "The Hound" looks like under all prosthetics!

It seems like it just started yesterday, but the curtains are beginning to close on another SXSW Film Festival. And part of that process means handing out awards, with the SXSW jury revealing the winners who will be leaving Austin with more than just BBQ stains and memories of a great time. The two big feature winners were Sarah-Violet Bliss & Charles Rogers' "Fort Tilden" and the documentary "The Great Invisible," taking the Narrative and Documentary categories, respectively. The win puts both films on festival programming radars for the rest of the year, with buyers surely to perk up as well for any acquisition talks. Other awards highlights: Natalie Tena and David Verdaguer got a special award for their performance in the romantic drama "10,000 Km (Long Distance)" (check out the trailer here). Richard Linklater and his latest "Boyhood" took the Lone Star trophy, while "True Detective" nabbed a win for title design.

Special awards were given to Jen McGowan, who directed this year’s Kelly & Cal starring Juliette Lewis. Kelly & Cal is McGowan’s feature debut and she was awarded with the special SXSW Gamechanger Emergent Woman Director Award. Special mention for the award went to Kat Candler, director of Hellion.

The opening shot of writer-director Carlos Marqués-Marcet's "10,000 Km" ("Long Distance") lasts 23 minutes, and each moment is well-earned. Following a heated sexual encounter between Spanish couple Alex (Natalia Tena) and Sergi (David Verdaguer), the camera continues to watch as they discuss their intentions of having a baby. Then the situation gets complicated, with Alex confessing her opportunity to leave Barcelona for a yearlong residency in Los Angeles; at first excited for his partner, Sergi grows increasingly agitated before eventually accepting the challenge. It's the last time we see the characters sharing the same space for over an hour — during the majority of the movie, they struggle to maintain a close relationship through virtually every form of communication at their disposal. The long take epitomizes the deep bond that remains fractured for the rest of the story. The bad vibes settle in fast: From the smoothly executed beginning, "Long Distance" switches to a.

Love is the curious emotion that can be both strong and fragile, all at the same time. A bond that seems unbreakable can suddenly bend when the circumstances around the union are changed. Can love survive distance? Can passion be sustained across continents? Co-writer and director Carlos Marques-Marcet explores those questions in "10,000 Km (Long Distance)" premiering at the SXSW Film Festival. Natalia Tena and David Verdaguer play the couple at the center of the Spanish language drama, with the story following Barcelona based lovers Alexandra and Sergi, who put their relationship to the test when she accepts a residency in Los Angeles. And as you'll see in this exclusive trailer, the pair maintain connected thanks to modern technology, but sometimes, not even Skype can substitute someone by your side sharing a meal, an outing or your bed. "10,000 Km (Long Distance)" premieres at SXSW today. Watch below. Click here for more...

Jeremy McGuire was the third strong male player in a row evicted from the "Big Brother 15" house. He tells Zap2it that it was still a great experience, even though he's not sure if he sees a future for himself and Kaitlin, his showmance inside the house.
Are you glad you went on Big Brother, even if you went out so early?
I am very glad. I love opportunities and this was a great opportunity. Even though I left early, I left with my head up, so, it was a good experience."
If you could start over, would you do anything differently with your game play?

The feature race on Thursday is the big stayers race the Gold Cup. The most prestigious long distance race in the calendar for flat horses the race has lost some of it’s appeal in the last few decades, though Yeats’ incredible winning run from 2006-2009 did a lot to rejuvenate the race.
This year’s race could have another big story that helps sex up the Gold Cup and maybe even get the race on to the front pages, as current favourite for the race is Estimate (5/1), a filly that is owned by none other than her majesty the Queen.
Winner of the Group 3 Queen’s Vase here last season, the four-year-old for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore has been well supported in recent days and will surely go off a very short-priced favourite on the day as the more casual punters on Ladies’ Day jump on the idea of a Royal winner.

Let’s do a quick recap of what we’ve seen of Nicci Gilbert on R&B Diva over the last two years.
Season 1: Repeatedly makes a point of how music doesn’t speak to her anymore; spends most of her time on other business ventures like the fashion line Curvato.
Season 2: Seems slightly back into music but honestly I don’t know that much about it because she spends most of her time fighting with Syleena and causing drama about a possible divas tour which she does not want to do.
The Last Two Episodes: Very suddenly getting Brownstone back together. Because Michael Jackson believed in them! Wants all the divas to sing together like they’re all perfectly happy singing sisters.

Well that was a relief. The return of Doctor Who so far, wasn’t exactly the eagerly anticipated trip of a lifetime. The Bells Of St John and The Rings Of Akhaten may have looked good, but when it comes to Doctor Who, good looks just ain’t enough – especially when you’re wrestling with flimsy plots, twee denouements and too much singing. My ears are still bleeding from the aural horrors of last week’s instalment.
Cold War, on the other hand, is a different proposition. It may have had its fair share of singing, but then David Warner mumbling along to Ultravox is far preferable to Murray’s Pompous Choir any day of the week. Cold War was very much a Make Or Break episode in that it had a lot to prove. Not only did it have to right some of the wrongs made by the first two clunkers,...

Last week the directorial debut from Shawn and Michael Rasmussen - Dark Feed - arrived on DVD and VOD courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment, who nabbed distribution for the indie psychological thriller last fall.
Also co-written by the Rasmussen Brothers, Dark Feed follows a film crew shooting a low-budget horror film at an abandoned psychiatric hospital with a shadowy past that seems to be coming back to life, feeding off its new inhabitants. As the shoot wears on, members of the crew exhibit increasingly strange behavior, leaving those unaffected realizing just how quickly the madness is spreading amongst them. The only problem is the hospital they're stuck inside doesn't want them to escape- at any cost.

Sean and Catherine, you’re in the throes of passion and romance after finding love on ’The Bachelor,’ but you can’t expect it to just stay that way without work. Here’s what you have to do.
Bachelor Sean Lowe and fiancée Catherine Giudici, it’s obvious from watching you two together that you are the real deal.
Unlike recent Bachelors Ben Flajnik and Jake Pavelka and their ex-fiancées, Courtney Robertson and Vienna Girardi, there are no hard-to-ignore rumors about your relationship being fake — or at least shaky.
You two looked genuinely thrilled and naturally excited about getting engaged, and you couldn’t keep your lips or hands off each other when you sat on the After the Rose couch and talked with Chris Harrison.
But after the excitement of meeting on The Bachelor wears off, and once Dancing with the Stars, in which Sean is starring in, is...

We're going to do something a little different this time. Oh, who are we kidding? As promised, we're going to delve into the summer movie season with these Long Distance Box Offices, although I also want to save something for our annual Summer Box Office Preview. This summer on paper may not look as strong as last year's triumvirate of The Avengers , The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises and the box office has generally been down. Even so, we still think that the summer has a good chance at a number of huge hits that should definitely make enough money to make up for the weak spring/winter season. Part of the reason for that is...
