Sex & Nudity

  • There is strong sexual dialogue throughout the film, very explicit at times.
  • There is a very brief scene of a woman wearing something revealing a lot of cleavage.
  • In another scene a man and a woman kiss. Very soon after that the camera focus instantly on the buttocks of the woman. Although she is wearing pyjama pants that are not tight, her T string underwear has been lifted and reveals some of her naked tattooed buttocks.

Violence & Gore

  • In a flashback from Afghanistan we see a lot of people being shot and killed (only a little blood)
  • Out of frustration concerning a job application to the LAPD Jim starts hammering his fists against the steering wheel, when he discovers that another man is watching him, he gets out of the car and smashes a beer bottle on that mans windshield
  • When Mike and Jim exit a liqour-store they see a man with a gun, chasing another man and he fires the gun a couple of times (but we don't see him hit anything)
  • Jim fights some men and eventually mugs them as he threatens them with a gun. He kicks one in the back.
  • A man is killed by being stabbed in the throat (with extremely bloody results)
  • Jim holds a gun to his girlfriends head and verbally threatens her.
  • Jim squezzes a mans neck very hard when he refuses to go with him in the car.

Profanity

  • 296 uses of "fuck". Frequent uses of "bitch", "shit", "nigga" and "asshole".
  • Virtually every single character in the movie regularly uses harsh language.
  • There are a lot of scenes that are peppered with profanity.
  • 311 Uses Of Fuck

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Mike and Jim are seen drinking beer and smoking pot in several scenes

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are lots of scenes that can get bloody and intense.
  • When Jim starts getting emotional it's very intense

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Jim shoots and kills four men (only a little blood), Mike and Jim flees from the scene, but an old man comes out and fires pumpgun at the car. Jim is hit by the bullets and the shattered glass from the windshield. (He's very bloody afterwards)
  • Jim tells Mike to shoot him in the head. He does so. We see the impact offscreen.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The end of the movie, where Jim is paralyzed by bullets and asks Mike to shoot him, is extremely shocking and sad, especially considering that Mike is very reluctant to do so, having never killed anyone himself, and them say their goodbyes to each other. This scene is very realistic and absolutely heartbreaking, and especially haunting considering the last couple minutes of the movie.
