No More Souls One Last Slice of Sensation: Suffers from the common tropes shorts often do
Platypuschow13 January 2018
No More Souls is around the 4 minutes mark, the credits are almost as long as the film itself.

The effects are great all things considered and it's quite well written but the story it's trying to tell needs a tad more than 4 minutes.

The story is that mankind has ended itself, the apocalypse has come and gone in the time it took the worlds nuclear powers to press their buttons. With the lack of souls to reap Pinhead is bored and deciding what his life yet holds.

Again it looks the part and the little dialogue is quite good, but the amateurish narration doesn't help.

Shorts often suffer because their limited time doesn't give them a chance to complete the full picture and this is no exception. It's a story, without the delivery.

The Good:

Some decent writing

The Bad:

Bad narration

Too much for a short

Things I Learnt From This Short:

It'll never be Pinhead without Doug Bradley

End of days
movieman_kev5 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Special effects artist, Gary Tunnicliffe writes, directs and stars as Pinhead in this short film that depicts the end of days for the aforementioned character. All mankind is gone so a saddened Pinhead contemplates the ultimate pleasure/pain scenario. Sadly this isn't cannon, even sadder Hellraiser 3 through 9 are. And while the scant 6 minute short is honestly only so-so, but compelled to some of the more atrocious sequels, looks like something of a minor masterpiece. Of course, Tunnicliffe himself would erase all goodwill this short earned him but writing Hellraiser: Revelations.

My Grade: C-

For fans of the series only, one of the coolest fanfics I've seen.

Warning: Spoilers
-slight spoilers-

There's not really much else to say. It's very short, but if you enjoy the mythology of the Cenobites this will be a real treat for you.

They pack more effectiveness into 6 minutes than most of the straight to DVD films managed in hours, it's also the most original spin I've experienced on a franchise for some time.

Even without Douglas Bradley this manages to work very well. the use of an older actor adds to the final lament of the most famous Cenobite. This could be considered an alternative 'ending' to bloodlines, and it's one I found much more satisfying.

Okay for huge fans of the franchise

Warning: Spoilers
"No More Souls: One Last Slice of Sensation" is a Hellraiser fan film written by, directed by and starring Gary J. Tunnicliffe. It is a live action movie and in English and only runs for 6 minutes, a third of these are credits. I am not a huge fan of the film series, mostly because I haven't seen them all, so maybe this is why this short film was merely okay at best. Tunnicliffe is an incredibly experienced makeup artist, already was when he made this little movie over 10 years ago, so it should not come as a surprise that the best thing about is are probably the visuals. The story is so-so only, but for such a short runtime, it is okay. It may have dragged at over 10 minutes. All in all, I recommend this only to the biggest Hellraiser fans. Thumbs down.

I'd watch this over Hellworld, Bloodline, and Hell on Earth any day!

I'm amazed at how well the Deader DVD was put together. The special features on it are fantastic, the film is great, and we get THIS little beauty! This is yet another reason to pick up the Deader DVD, the only sequel, IMO, since HRII to evoke the atmosphere of the original.

No More Souls is a very enjoyable short film put together by virtually the same crew as the recent Hellraiser films (minus Bota as a director, with Gary J Tunnicliffe doing possibly one too many jobs). It was shot on Hi-Def video for a few thousand dollars, and though the lighting is nothing to scream about, and though the hand-held camera work is a little shaky at times, the concepts it evokes and the theme are perfect, and Pinhead's monologue is fantastic. This is a real fan pleaser. The ending is simply awesome.

Minus one star for the lighting, and minus one for the occasionally bad camera work, I give this film an 8. I think I've probably watched it over a dozen times now. :)

It's a sad day in hell "When the harvester has nothing left to harvest..." Warning: Spoilers
This short film sees the dread incarnation of pain itself enduring his own personal hell, one in which his very desire has left him... He grimly waxes poetically about how such a fate came to be, and I love the monologue. That does seem like the kind of well-crafted compelling dark wordplay that Pinhead would come out with! He solves his woes in typical Hellraiser fashion by bringing on one final bout of sweet agony, his own, as he solves the box himself and invites bodily destruction from the other restless cenobites. It does make a kind of sense how the cenobites turn on and slaughter their leader, they do automatically attack whoever opens the box and whoever has the true desire to summon them. It's not a particularly graceful or Hellraiser-ish way to go, for he merely gets gutted and carved up with knives, but whatever, it is a very brief short, you can't expect everything done right. Anyway he's no Doug Bradley but I think it's a very decent Pinhead, his makeup and outfit look terrific and I like this old tired Pinhead who is truly empty without fresh victims to drag into the unholy depths of pain and twisted pleasure. The voice was a bit off but it still worked, and the production values were threadbare but I think they got the feel of the Hellraiser world right and to me it feels true to the spirit of the original movies. The visuals and atmosphere are very well done and it's miles ahead of the awful Hellraiser Prophecy short films. It's a pretty cool idea, I think it would have been a much more meaningful and fitting ending to the series as a whole than the bland and-too-binding ending of Bloodline. I love the sound of the trademark chains that gently rattle over the credits, rather chilling. It's over in a flash and is slightly dull, but this is still a good effective short to me. It's worth seeing if you're a fan of the character and the terrifying gore-drenched world and its lore. They did a very good job here. Yes more Hellraiser short films like this please!

You got it wrong, but it was entertaining.

Erm there is a massive plot in this story. It doesnt make sense in the hell raiser story, you have to solve the box to go to this version of hell, not just die. So why would 4 billion people who haven't solved the box, they just died in a nuclear war ! It makes no sense.! Why would they go to hell, they just died in a catastrophe. I can't believe Gary tuncliffe didn't consider this.
