This for me was just as important to see as one of the normal 100 Greatest programmes, but with a difference. There was no critic or public opinions or voting, this was judging on the amount of tickets sold at the cinema for an individual film. Hosted by the great comedian John Cleese and narrated by the enthusiastic Fay Ripley, this had all the films that the most of Britain watched. With contributions from Kenny Baker, Paul Barber, Angela Cartwright, Lewis Gilbert, Steve Huison, Richard Kiel, David Lean, Christopher Lee, Peter Mayhew, John Mills, Andy Serkis, Steven Spielberg, John Travolta, Dick Van Dyke, Dee Wallace-Stone and Michael Winner. The films that most people saw at the cinema included: Gladiator, The Lion King, Chicken Run, The King and I, The Exorcist, 7 James Bond films, 5 Star Wars films (Episode III was not out), A Bug's Life, Pinocchio, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, My Fair Lady, Love Actually, Ghost, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Rebecca (the only Hitchcock), Bambi, The Great Dictator, Saturday Night Fever, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Men in Black, Finding Nemo, A Clockwork Orange, Monsters Inc, Bridget Jones's Diary, Superman, Independence Day, The Godfather, The Twoering Inferno, Toy Story 2, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Greatest Show on Earth, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Ben-Hur, The Third Man, Mary Poppins, the first 2 Harry Potter films, The Full Monty, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Grease, Titanic, The Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Sound of Music, and the most popular film at the cinema with 35 million tickets sold, Gone with the Wind.
