Mediocre s-f thriller

The movie starts with a car being chased by the police crashing, the male driver dying in the crash. Then it cuts to a female patient dying on an operation table and a young woman in dress (an intern perhaps?) lamenting that her loss will be the premature end of an experiment. Then it cuts to the same young women being invited to come back to the medical school which she had graduated from and take over some experiment being carried on chimps regarding expanding brain capacity. Not all seems to be what it seems to be and a retarded kid guides her in uncovering the mystery. Not really a bad movie, as it is not incompetently made, but not very engaging either. And quite predictable, until the surprising finale.

Might have been a better script ...

... than a film ... the film that got made out of the script of course. Because it does start good. A mystery that can only be solved by a woman. And all that on an island, where some people try to find out about dreams.

But of course there might be more to that (have you seen something like this before? Probably, but if not, you can guess what's going to happen ... not all of it, but most of it) and there is ... much more! And that's were the flaw of this movie lies, it does play with the viewer/spectator of the (or whatever you want to call yourself if you (want to) watch this) movie! It really gets out of hand, in the end and although he connects the dots there, it still remains a mess that destroys the good idea somehow ... A shame then
