Anacronismos: In the beginning you see a white horse, but horses were not introduced to the America continent until 16th century when the Spanish conquistadors arrive. Also the horse is not of a breed that would have been used by the Vikings.

One of the Worst Movies I've Seen

I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but even then I got disappointed. Maybe I was attracted by the visual style or maybe I thought that it would be amusing if someone made a power metal song into a movie, but either way I subjected myself to this movie. I at least thought that the idea of Clancy Brown playing a big, bad Viking would help, but he's wasted in an uninteresting role as a generic bad guy. Not much else to say about the acting, except Karl Urban tries to save the film and the girl who plays his instant love interest is the only Indian character without a Native American accent.

The dialogue is atrocious. Absolutely no effort is made to include banter, wit, or anything outside the bare minimum to explain the movie's plot. It seems like the filmmakers knew their limitations since there is almost no dialogue anyway. Most of it's not even funny-bad dialogue like the trailer had me believe. Some of the dialogue, where Karl Urban says that his past "claws at" him, reminds me of the cheesy cutscene dialogue I heard when I was playing "Shadow the Hedgehog." Heck, even the guy's name, Ghost, sounds like a Sonic fan character's. At one point the Indians don't let Ghost attend a meeting because "he hasn't faced his demons." Sounds like they just don't like him because he looks funny.

The only funny part, intentional or unintentional, is when a group of Indians makes a futile attempt to charge the Vikings. There are other stupid scenes in the movie as well. I think Vikings, of all people, would know not to walk on thin ice.

The editing leaves much to be desired, especially in the fight scenes. I've seen a few reviews saying this movie at least had good fights in it, but that simply isn't true. Every action scene is shot and cut so you can't even see what's going on. I don't know how this movie got an R rating when you can't even SEE the violence. AVP was an awful movie, but it had its moments. Pathfinder doesn't have any.

Pathfinder also has horrible pacing, with terrible transitions from scene to scene. All this movie has going for it is the beautiful visual style and its costume design.
