Writer/Director Derek Maki wrote this script in memory of his grandmother who died (like Nancy in the film) of pancreatic cancer.
The role of Luke was cast three times with Dominic Janes being the final actor to take on the role.
Over 35 hours of footage was shot.
Dominic Janes suffered from being lactose intolerant but in the film is seen drinking milk. He had to drink milk several times in order to get the take right. A short while after the shot was done he complained of cramps. Director Derek Maki asked if he was OK and he said yes. So, Derek then asked Dominic's mom what was wrong and she informed him that he was lactose intolerant. Derek asked why they didn't say something before they shot the scene and she replied that it was scripted that way and that Dominic was a professional and would do what ever was called for. Derek told them he would have changed the script to anything else to be drunk if they had only told him.
A client and good friend of Derek Maki's is Matt Sloan, a visual effects wizard who offered to help Derek if any visual effects were needed. Derek told Matt that the film was a drama and that he could not foresee any need of visual effects. During editing of the film the scene where Steve is thumbing through the love letters always bothered Derek because the prop letters used for the shot were just a bunch of bills and some bank logos and other logos could be seen on the envelopes in the shot (even though Steve tried to angle them away from the camera). Derek then went to Matt and asked if he could correct the shot and Matt said of course he would as that is what he did... visual effects.
