The pilot was favorably received by CBS, but the network decided that they would rather have Peter Graves replace Stephen Hill as the star of "Mission Impossible" than start a whole new series from scratch.
For about a decade an edited down presentation of the opening theme music to this pilot was used as the CBS Special Presentation bumper music, with the spinning colorful logo. Later on Morton Stevens would go on to redo the opening credits cue for an episode of "Hawaii Five-O" (Which was included on the old album of scoring, leading people to often confuse the originating source of the bumper music).
In 1973 a third and final attempt at a "Call to Danger" pilot was filmed, and Peter Graves was again chosen as the lead.
