In the last bar scene with Edward Burns and Matthew Lillard, Burns is wearing a T-shirt saying "Up & Down Club"---which is the Jazz club his wife Christy Turlington owned with her sister Erin back in San Francisco. The club had a good run from 1994 till 1999.
At the ice cream truck, the phrase "on the arm" is used. This phrase, "On The Arm," came from the Mafia. Its meaning was to show their respect to the Mafia Boss who protected their neighborhood or fear of being extorted, the store owners would not allow them to pay for items. Store owners would take their right hand and brush it against their left arm as a way of saying, "Forget about it" i.e. no charge, free, (fuhgeddaboudit).
In one bar scene, Edward Burns tells Jay Mohr's to just be cordial to John Leguizamo's character TC, but Mohr doesn't understand what that word means, so Matthew Lillard who is known in his career for playing odd, dimwitted slacker's like Cereal from Hackers (1995), Stuart from Scream (1996), and his best known character Shaggy from the "Scooby Doo(2002)" franchise, tells him it means be polite, then calls him a retard.
