Sophia Bush came out to the world this week and noted that she has found “real joy” during a new stage of her life.
The Chicago P.D. alum (she played Detective Erin Lindsay) says that regarding her sexuality, “the word that best defines it is queer.”
Sophia has been on television and in many films. She has also been seen on stage, including a recent play in London.
Many television viewers met Sophia as Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill. She then starred as Erin Lindsey on the One Chicago shows. She was seen on Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and the failed spin-off, Chicago Justice. Her character was even on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit four times.
Sophia played Beth in John Tucker Must Die, October in Stay Alive, and Grace Andrews in The Hitcher on the big screen.

While attending the premiere of Ripley on Wednesday night (April 3), Jesse shared some new details about the potential sequel.
Keep reading to find out more…“It may live on. I’m hopeful,” Jesse shared with Entertainment Tonight. “I think this script that I’ve read is a great jumping-off point. It’s really well executed.”
Jesse went on to give “kudos” to Arielle, who he credited for “developing it and pushing this along.”

This Friday just got a little bit freakier for millennial Disney fans: “Freaky Friday 2” has a director attached, which means, yes, it’s happening. “Late Night” director Nisha Ganatra (“Welcome to Chippendales”) is ready to get to work behind the camera, The Hollywood Reporter wrote, with Og stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in talks to return in front.
The “Freaky Friday” sequel has been one the Hollywood’s worst-kept secrets, but still, nothing is official until it is.
“Freaky Friday 2” is very much on trend. The film will join a whole slew of sequels set 20-plus years after their initial (respective) releases. There was already the new (musical) “Mean Girls,” and sequels to “John Tucker Must Die” and “The Princess Diaries” are in the works. (It’d be the third “Princess Diaries” film.)
IndieWire reached out to reps for Disney, Ganatra, Curtis, and Lohan for comment on the THR story,...

“John Tucker Must Die” is being resurrected.
The beloved high school rom-com that had a Shakespearean revenge premise is getting the delayed-sequel treatment, according to one the original film’s stars Arielle Kebbel. She’ll not just reprise her role of Carrie in this one, but also produce.
“John Tucker Must Die” centered around a philandering popular jock (Jesse Metcalfe) whose series of girlfriends devise a plan to turn the heartbreak tables around on him. Enter: Brittany Snow. The 2006 film also starred Sophia Bush, Penn Badgley, and the singer Ashanti. It was directed by Betty Thomas.
John Tucker, who definitely ain’t dead yet, may even get a redemption arc in this one.
“I’ve heard rumors of this script — there’s a script,” Metcalfe said earlier this week during a panel at Epic Cons Chicago (via E! Online). “Apparently, it’s amazing.”

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering The Descent was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The decade comprised of the years 2000 to 2009 seems to be maligned by many horror fans as a bad period, a period where nothing good was released. Much like the decades before it when folks maligned the 1990s, 1980s, and now more recent movies, there was some bad stuff put out of course, but there were also a whole of good movies too. Some of them, like The Strangers in 2008, The House of the Devil in 2009, and Brotherhood of the Wolf in 2001 were excellent even. People often seem to paint the past in a better light and vilify the more recent eras when it comes to horror films. In 2005, plenty of horror films were released.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

With its list of new releases for July 2023, Prime Video is going to help you stay safe from the oppressive July sun.
Highlighting the Amazon Originals on the TV side this month are two heavy hitters. The first is The Horror of Dolores Roach on July 7. Based on a podcast of the same name, this series could best be described as a modern day Sweeney Todd? Why, you ask? Well you know why. Think about it. Then season 2 of Neil Gaiman adaptation Good Omens premieres on July 28. This season will follow angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tenant) as they seek to keep the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) away from both heaven and hell.
There aren’t any Amazon Original movies of note this month and that’s alright as the influx of library titles is more than enough. July 1 sees the arrival of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, No Country for Old Men,...

Within the first half-hour of the Lifetime limited series V.C. Andrews’ Dawn — premiering Saturday, July 8 at 8/7c — we learn that the titular teen’s parents kidnapped her as a baby, she’s a member of the ruthless and wealthy Cutler family, her high school crush is really her biological brother, and the boy raised as her sibling is her new love interest.
It’s the kind of twisted drama one would expect from the author who also gave us Flowers in the Attic, another salacious tale about an affluent household that won’t let familial relations get in the way of love.

Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2023 don’t feature many blockbusters, but if we dig a little, I’m sure we can find some gems.
Perhaps the most promising items are on the TV side of things. Tiny Beautiful Things premieres on April 7 and stars Kathryn Hahn as “a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart.” That will be followed by comedy Am I Being Unreasonable? on April 11 and two documentaries: high school football story Algiers, America (April 19) and Tupac Shakur piece Dear Mama (April 22).
The best TV candidate this month, however, is probably Saint X on April 26. This series, told via multiple timelines, “explores and upends the girl-gone-missing genre as it explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.

Even if you’ve signed up for every streaming service out there, it can feel monumental when a title moves from one to another. In April, Netflix mainstay “New Girl” moves to Hulu; still streaming, but not where fans are used to finding it — like rearranging the furniture in your apartment and waking up surprised every day that the couch is over there now.

Penn Badgley is now famous for his role as romantic serial killer Joe on Netflix’s You. But before that, the actor played a lot of high-school characters — something Badgley recently said he was way too old to be doing.

You is a Netflix series created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble starring Penn Badgley.
This fourth season of You is showing itself to be a completely scathing, sarcastic and lethal portrait of the (high) London society in this highly entertaining plot about a stalker… and it is highly seductive.
A very different series that has managed, with intelligence and a great sense of literary irony, to give a new twist to the topic and a new slant about the established. It knows how to turn around what, supposedly, has upended the social game.
A twisted literary, cinematographic and televisual game that becomes more and more addictive as it evolves.
Don’t miss it

Penn Badgley was best known for his role as Dan Humphrey on the teen soap "Gossip Girl" before showing off his dark side on the hit Netflix series "You." Believe it or not, Joe wasn't the first edgy character that Badgley was considered for. In fact, the actor almost starred in the acclaimed drama "Breaking Bad" as the meth-cooking sous-chef Jesse Pinkman.
"One [role] I got close on was 'Breaking Bad,'" Badgley revealed in a puppy-filled interview with Buzzfeed Celeb. "It was between me and Aaron Paul. We both [screen]tested, and actually, that was the best television script I'd read up to that point. That was the one that got away."
The first season of "Breaking Bad" was released just one year after "Gossip Girl." The shows both ran for several years and became wildly popular — albeit in very different circles. "Breaking Bad" was a hit with critics, while...

Penn Badgley is saying hello, you, to the director’s chair.
The “Gossip Girl” alum made his directorial debut with Episode 9 of “You” Season 4, marking a pivotal turn both in Joe Goldberg’s psyche for the upcoming second half of the highly anticipated season, as well as a major career change for Badgley.
“I’m definitely going to direct more,” Badgley told IndieWire. “I would love to direct something else. Features, probably.”
He continued, “[But] I don’t know if I can direct more of this show because I’m not able to watch enough, just from a purely practical standpoint. There’s not enough time for me to watch every take, so therefore I’m kind of directing with my eyes closed a little bit.”

Stage names aren’t uncommon in the entertainment industry. Some of the most successful actors have created names for themselves that seem to reek of star power. Meryl Streep, for example, was born Mary Louise Streep but has used her nickname throughout her professional career. However, other actors like Penn Badgley have a government name that seemed to imply that they were destined for stardom from the very beginning.

With titles under his belt like “John Tucker Must Die,” “Snakes on a Plane,” and “John Carter,” Taylor Kitsch is open to any and all offers.
The “Terminal List” actor who famously portrayed Tim Riggins in beloved football drama series “Friday Night Lights” jokingly opened up to Esquire about what informs his roles: cold, hard cash.
When addressing if he would ever want to be a parent, Kitsch said it “wouldn’t have been great” for his career. “You shut down and start doing shit for money,” Kitsch stated.
As the Esquire reporter asked if an “Ice Age 12” would be on the table, Kitsch replied, “Oh, I’ll do voice-over shit. But do I want to do ‘Saw 9-14’? Probably not.”
The “Painkiller” star continued to tease, “But I’m also for sale. If they want to give me 10 million a movie, I’ll go do ‘Saw fucking 9-14,'” before adding,...

Step aside Mr. Darcy and Anthony Bridgerton — Regency-era London has a new most eligible bachelor.
Based on Suzanne Allain’s romance novel of the same name, “Mr. Malcolm’s List” centers on the titular Mr. Malcolm (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù of “His House”) who has impossible standards for his bride to be. Mr. Malcolm jilts love interest Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) after she fails to meet one of his requirements, and Julia enlists best friend Selina Dalton (Freida Pinto) to go full “John Tucker Must Die” on Mr. Malcolm — aka, pretend to be his perfect woman with the intentions of duping the dumper into now becoming the dumpee.
“Emily in Paris” breakout Ashley Park and “The Time Traveler’s Wife” heartthrob Theo James also star, alongside Oliver Jackson-Cohen of “The Invisible Man” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and “Hill House” fame.
The film premieres in theaters July 1, with Bleecker Street distributing the title.

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between.
Today we explore the agony and the ecstasy of the Almost Movie Star: young performers who found success early on and were given a few opportunities to establish themselves as bankable leading performers. Our guest is Valerie Ettenhofer, TV critic at Film School Rejects and News writer at Slash Film. They don't make 'em like they used to. Which might be for the best in the case of John Tucker Must Die, the 2006 cult-classic comedy starring Jesse Metcalfe as a shameless teen lothario brought low by the girls he was two- (and three-) timing, but who starts to glimpse the error of his ways once he meets Miss Right. The film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical can’t overcome its 27-year-old star’s creepy teen makeup and the story’s wobbly handling of mental health
There are two major issues that Dear Evan Hansen, the film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical, cannot overcome. First, the decision to have Ben Platt reprise his Tony-winning performance as Evan Hansen in the film, the only original cast member to do so. It would’ve been one thing for the film-makers to have asked audiences to suspend disbelief that the 27-year-old Platt was actually a geeky high school senior – a little annoying, but fine, as almost every teen movie demands that anyway. But the team behind Dear Evan Hansen put Platt in prosthetics and opaque, pasty makeup, along with a curly mop of hair, that strands the actor firmly in the uncanny valley. But the attempt to make Platt seem younger somehow...

The actress recalls her favorite memories from the film, including being terrified about working with Jeff Bridges
2006 was a golden year for young adult films: “Step Up,” “She’s the Man” and “John Tucker Must Die” to name a few. There was also “Stick It” starring Missy Peregrym as Haley Graham, a young gymnast rebelling against the sport and all it stands for as she recovers from how it traumatized her family. Today, “Stick It” turns 15 years old.
The film was directed by Jessica Bendinger, who was just coming off of writing “Bring It On.” Much like that movie, “Stick It” was cheeky and lovable, and over the years has carved out it’s own spot in the hearts of millennials. These days, you can watch Missy Peregrym still kicking butt, this time as an FBI agent in CBS’ “FBI,” but she still remembers playing Haley Graham quite clearly.

Popular movies like “BlacKkKlansman,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Jaws” and “School of Rock” are all arriving Friday, May 1. Plus, the director’s cut of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and “The Art of Getting By,” to name a few.
TV shows arriving throughout the month include the premiere of limited series “I Know This Much Is True” starring Mark Ruffalo, out May 10, and the season finale of HBO’s dark comedy “Run” starring Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson, out May 24.

May isn’t quite summer yet but it is usually time that the networks start wrapping up their newest shows and preparing for a relatively fallow summer period. Since HBO isn’t a network, it has no such business model. But May sees the winding down of some HBO blockbusters all the same.
While there are some notable new releases for HBO in May 2020, the bigger story might be the things that are ending. Westworld concludes its third season on May 3 while new series Run wraps up on May 24. Thankfully the film losses in May aren’t too bad for HBO, unless the Agent Cody Banks saga drives a lot of traffic.
The most notable TV premiere in May is I Know This Much is True, a book adaptation starring Mark Ruffalo. This is a very bleak story coming along at a bleak time in history but perhaps those two things will cancel out.
