An Unforgettable Experience

There are no words to describe Provoked. It truly is brilliance. It is a must see for lovers of serious cinema. The movie is wonderfully directed. The editing is perfect. The transition between Kiranjit's present time and past time are awesome. The screenplay is amazing. The movie is written perfectly. The movie has the tendency of getting over the top with the comedy moments, it still is awesome to watch. The movie is like watching reality. The events seem so real that you forget this movie is played by actors.

The casting director was great. Though some of the characterization was weak for some of the characters, the actors give it their all. The best part of the movie is easily Aishwarya Rai. She honestly says very few words the entire movie, but you can't help but feeling for her. Best yet, the beautiful Aishwarya Rai is there, but she gets in the skin of Kiranjit so well, that you forget that it is Aishwarya Rai. This is arguably her best performance in her career. Naveen Andrews is good. You will love to hate him. Miranda Richardson is also quite good. She works so well with Aishwarya Rai that once again, it seems like reality. Nandita Das and the rest of the cast contribute well.

The movie is definitely worth a watch. It is great cinema. Though not many will be able to relate to the story, it is watchable for anyone. I would definitely recommend it to middle aged females. Also if you liked the recent Namesake, you will love this. It truly shows us that there is hope for Indian American cinema. And last, but definitely not least, watch it for Aishwarya Rai's performance. She proves that she is a big time talented actress and is not widely recognized only for her looks.
