Ratty Family Entertainment

'El Ratón Pérez' was quite a fun movie as I was watching it with my younger sibling and mother. The rats are cute. The Galician streets are a fresh sight. However, the content needed strong improvement. There are plenty of plot holes and some of the sequences are too far-fetched (like the flying bicycle). The parent characters are too cardboard, especially the mother and the dialogue between them is awful. Child actress Delfina Varni is quite okay while the rest don't impress much except Fabian Mazei who is let down by a poorly written role. The idea behind the world of rats is creative and well executed and drew a few chuckles and laughter. The CGI is nowhere near excellent but it wasn't too bad either as the viewer quickly gets used to it. 'El Ratón Pérez' could have been great family entertainment but it is mostly a letdown due to poor writing. Yet, overall, it can still be fun if one could arguably ignore the flaws.
