TORONTO -- The National Film Board documentary Exiles in Lotus Land grabbed the best new Canadian feature award at the Whistler Film Festival, which wrapped Sunday. Quebec filmmaker Ilan Saragosti's portrait of Quebec street kids finding refuge on the West Coast beat out five other films for Whistler's top award. Other award winners included the best documentary prize going to Joel Secter's The Best of Secter and the Rest of Secter, while the best mountain culture film went to U.S. filmmaker Jason Berry's Off Road to Athens, a film about U.S. mountain bike riders in competition internationally. Best short film went to Canadian filmmaker Greg Spottiswood's Noise.
