What a Shitty Summer

I'm admittedly not a huge fan of Troma flicks. I like a bunch of 'em, like the Toxie movies, Tromeo and Juliet, Cannibal the Musical, Sgt. Kabukiman, but I've never been cuckoo for cocoa puff for any of them. I was addicted to Shpadoinkle Day for a while, and I can easily see that song coming in and out of my life for a long time. Anyways, after hearing mostly good things about Poultrygeist I decided to give it a go. And just like many other Troma flicks, I'm glad I did.

Story revolves around a new fast-food chicken place being built in a community where they don't want one/or it's not needed....whatever. There was something to do with Native American land, I forget. Anywho, there's also a love-side-plot to keep you entertained and loads and loads of nasty, troma-style gore. I don't know how Troma does it, but they seriously make the messiest looking gore on the market. It doesn't look real, but damn is it disgusting. But anyways the story basically is a social commentary on the fast-food bizz, with a horror theme involving killer mutant chickens with song & dance numbers.

Poultrygeist overall was a fun flick, with tons of gore, lots of boobies, a chick that honestly looks like a very young Britney Spears from her "school girl" days, and the chick gets naked a lot. Gore and a young Britney Spears look-alike is reason enough to see this flick. But you also have to sit through too many, and way too long musical numbers. Sure the ideas are all silly and funny, but it just felt a tad too much.

If you're a fan of gore/nudity and Troma flicks, this should be a must see. And if you're just a bored geek with no one to hang out with or anything to do, then this would be a nice way to waste 100 minutes as well.
