To start off with i'm not a huge fan of these types of horror movies so it didn't have a huge appeal from the start. It was however a decent movie to watch if you like these body invading types of movies. I do feel that they could have figured out a better way to make the "alien" moves from body to body. I'm assuming they were trying to go as disgusting as possible. Some of the scenes in the film didn't make a whole lot of sense. You have to basically overlook the huge gaps in the storyline if you want to enjoy it. If of course your interested in watching a movie containing 90% "hot" women bearing their breasts then this is the movie for you, it does not lack in that department. I however am not one to look for that in a film so it held no appeal for me in that regard, so I had to stick with the sketchy storyline. Overall it was worth watching if your a hard core horror movie watcher, but certainly not a top pick when you have a selection of horror movies to choose from.

If "Decoys" was "Species" for horny teenagers, then "Candy Stripers" is "Decoys" for... Heck, I don't know. All I know is, I was kind of deeply disappointed with this one. The only thing it delivers, is some naked boobies from some extremely delicious babes, and some girl/girl kissing (which could be described as 'not your average kinda tongue-action'). Things that the movie fails to deliver: Good acting, tension, surprise-twists, great effects, good cinematography, and above all... a plot! Oh well, I've seen worse. Might be fun if you're in a very undemanding mood (in which I was when I saw it, so I don't regret the watch).

I actually thought it was two "p"s in the title and it would've been like the Strippers vs. Zombies comedy thing. And while it's about nurses (well the title that is), it does try to delve into the horror comedy territory that I thought it would. It does also contain a lot of nudity if that is anything that helps you enjoy a movie.
Acting wise there are a lot of issues at hand. The viewer knows always what the movie or the actors are trying to communicate, even though they fail many times at actually delivering convincingly. It's also very predictable to say the least. But it can be a fun movie for teenagers, if they haven't seen this a 100 times before already (not talking about the nudity in this case) ...

Candy Stripers is just plain horrible, and not in a scary way, even by B-movie or Z-movie standards. In case you were curious, the title refers to the female hospital volunteers in the US that wore white uniforms with red stripes. With a title like that, you would expect some stripping and nudity, there's not much of it here on display except a couple of quick breast shots, nothing really past the half-way point. It feels and plays like a cheap TV show with an extremely low budget, kind of a B-movie Goosebumps for teens. It takes place mostly in a hospital slowly being "overrun" by sexually aggressive women possessed by slugs. I actually make it sound better than it is.
The writing is lame, the dialogue is cliché, and it doesn't even have those wonderfully corny one-liners you usually get in that type of movie. The acting is laughable and doesn't even reach TV soap quality, which would have been nice here actually. Worse, you have 2 of the main guys, supposedly teenagers, that are balding. The special effects are pathetic, and not even funny pathetic, just cheap-looking and bad (especially the distortion CGI effect when the "creatures" die). The suspense and enjoyment are non-existent, and the movie felt twice as long as it actually is. And this is from someone who usually enjoys those kind of movies as long as there's some cleverness, enthusiasm and talent behind it. This review is already too long for such a piece of manure. Don't get suckered by the cover art. Don't expect good titillation, gore or fun. Don't pay for it, don't even watch it for free. If you already did, then you now understand what I meant. You want something good in the same vein, rent Lesbian Vampire Killers instead.

You can derive a whole lot from a movie's title as well as from the image displayed on the DVD-cover. If you're going to complain about how terrible, amateurish and stupid THIS particular movie is, perhaps you should have thought about that before, for example when choosing to watch a movie that is called "Candy Stripers" and that cheerfully depicts three sexy nurses with half-rotten faces licking lollipops on the cover. Obviously this is a pretty insignificant and quite retarded B-movie, but it's undeniably entertaining and at least it respects the good old principle of the three B's. Blood, boobs and beast! There's enough blood & gore to fill a couple of buckets, boobs of the sexiest type of women (=nurses) and beast because the yummy girls are in fact malicious aliens. Slimy alien creatures invade a small American town's hospital. What exactly their purpose is or why specifically they chose this offbeat location is apparently of no importance whatsoever. They exclusively prefer to use the bodies of attractive young candy striper nurses as hosts (hey, who can blame them?), force them to feed on sugary treats and transform them into even hotter & sexier man-eaters. The girls then subsequently seduce the men in the hospital and unleash throbbing monster before the horny victims can unleash theirs. Among the endangered remaining humans trying to escape the hospital are a clique of teenage basketball players and their cheerleader girlfriends. Personally, I look at "Candy Stripers" as a cheesy and amusingly inept homage to silly B-movies of the 80's. The main characters are all stereotypes, the script is incoherent as can be, the candy stripers are purely cast on their looks and may elements in the story don't make the least bit of sense. The hospital, for example, had issues long before the aliens ever took over the place. The doctors were already sexist men that drink Schnapps during their shifts and the nursing staff has meetings about the outbreak of deadly viruses in the middle of the hall where patients and visitors can hear them. The teenage protagonists are all insufferable and you hope for them to die quick and painfully. Especially the main cheerleader is a true caricature. Nobody can be that vain and shallow! The concept of "Candy Stripes" has a lot in common with another recently released horror/comedy called "Decoys". Both films are recommended, albeit very forgettable.
Sex appeal and gore helps it but the weak acting drags it.

When the Candy Stripers in a small town Hospital are taken over by voracious aliens, they become killing machines hell bent on breeding... playboy playmates Deanna Brooks and Serria Tawan star in this campy-horror feature.
Injured in an out-of-town college basketball game Matt and his team-mates end up in the local hospital. He suffers a broken leg and is placed in traction making him unable to move. Really weird things are happening... the sweet young Candy Stripers are seducing all the men in the hospital, then wrapping them in a hideous web-like substance. Matt realizes he and his friends must escape but after the hospital is put under quarantine they're trapped! Heading for the basement they find a terrifying scene... an alien makeshift maternity ward! Yet another small DTV release desperately seeking attention. Candy Stripers is a borderline film as far as entertainment is concerned, it really is leaning on the edge waiting to be shoved into the zone of regret. The fact that it was a combination of playmates and aliens in a film, the temptation and curiosity was too much for me to pass up. Especially with the voluptuous DVD cover art that the movie possesses.
So to explain this movie, you just need to follow a fairly laid out pattern. Sex scene, sex scene, gore scene, sex scene, gore scene, gore scene, almost a sex scene... wait yes, we get a sex scene, more gore etc. Really, that's pretty much it. Not really a bad thing but it's also not favoring the movie as far as the premise is concerned. As the movie started, I told my wife "It'll probably have a sex scene every five minutes." Lo' and behold... it was like that.
There are some fairly decent gore moments in the film, not surprising but pulled off quite successfully and does not have an over-abundance of poor CGI effects. There is some CG imagery, even though it's not great it's still tolerable especially when comparing to a lot of the other recent direct-to-video horror flicks. It passes the effects test just barely, a fun watch for the gore indeed.
The thing that holds Candy Stripers down is its plot and actors. Neither are worth the time of the day. The plot is tiring, overdone and has no substance. The opening scene is actually one of the worst scenes in the movie and is NOT a good first impression for the viewer, keep watching though... it gradually gets better but loses steam near the end. The two actors in the scene seemed to just be reading their lines and not showing any "real" emotion what-so-ever. Also the fact that they were driving a car that didn't look like it was moving and when it was moving it made them look like they never even passed their driving test.
A good one-time viewing but only for gore fans. If you're looking for anything more than unnecessary sex scenes and gore/violence, you're not going to enjoy this much at all.

Firstly, let us state that we were promised strong, if not gratuitous, sex scenes. We were sorely disappointed. We got mediocre breasticle action - if that - from women who should, by definition, be professional hookers.
Secondly, we call attention to the anomaly of the blonde cheerleader's unusually erect nipples - particularly watch out for those babies in the second half of the film...They practically wink at you from her green halter-neck.
Thirdly, what is Naomi Campbell doing trying to act?
A fourth point is that the orange blood used in many killings isn't fooling anyone.
Finally, this movie is built on the flimsy premise that hospital staff go around snogging patients on their death beds simply because they ask for a kiss. Had they been able to control their urges, this movie would never have come to fruition - and we'd all be better for it.

Two young women are driving on a highway at night and come across an overturned vehicle. They get out of the car to take a closer look. Realizing that something is dreadfully wrong, they get scared and drive away quickly. Unfortunately, one of the girls, "Tammy" (Sarah McGuire) has been embedded with an alien life-form and she kills the driver, "Sue" (Monique Cooper) while it is still in motion. Tammy is then taken to a hospital in a small town called Wucaipa where she embeds the alien life-form into a local candy striper named "Janine" (Deanna Brooks) before dying. At around the same time three high school basketball players, "Matt" (Brian Lloyd), "Brian" (Kevin Thomas Fee) and "Joey" (William Edwards Jr.) are injured in a game and are taken to this same hospital for treatment. Accompanying them is the sister of one of the players, "Cherie" (Torie White) and Matt's girlfriend, "Krystal" (Nicole Rayburn). From then on it becomes a struggle for life and death for all concerned. At any rate, as others have already mentioned this is not a great movie. The acting is below average, and the plot is totally predictable. Still, it has plenty of decent action and some attractive women which adds some scenery, if nothing else. That said, even though everything has pretty much been done before and this movie doesn't really go over any new ground, it was still an okay movie. Not great, but okay. And while it certainly could have been better, I've definitely seen a lot worse.

I knew from the DVD box art that I was in for a roller-coaster of pure, unadulterated abysmal acting and terrible special effects, but the promise of bare skin held my interest (somewhat).
It's true, you take what you get with these 'films' and since I didn't hear any Oscar nods for 'Candy Stripers' I figured that this made-for-video horror fest was worth at least the $1.98 I paid to rent it. Do you ever wish you had your $1.98 back? The DVD promising voluptuous beauties panned out to an extent, but for all the nudity the former Playmates involved in this venture had done in their previous line of work, the 'adult activity' was lukewarm at best. It's not like anyone renting this thing didn't see the obvious tie-ins with sex, etc. and were instead renting it for the star power backing this project. Renters of this film asked for the nudity, gore and violence and instead were introduced with a flaccid production and really limp acting and storyline. I don't know why producers feel that because they have no budget that everything must suffer.
SPOILERS AHEAD... SAVE YOUR $1.98 on a half gallon of gas...
So what's the plot? OK... Aliens come to earth and infest 'beautiful' young candy striper's (hence the title) at a small hospital with the intent on breeding with every man in site in a plot to take over the earth. Anyway, the candy striper's have some kind of parasitic worm that breeds inside them and then they orally pass it along to other females (sounds promising? it's not). The whole hospital becomes infected and is quarantined with an 'unknown' virus. Did I mention that there's some dumb teenage jocks involved? In the end the infected females are killed by insulin injections because it seems like they have an overwhelming lust for not only breeding with the locals, they also LOVE sugar. One of the heroines of the film is diabetic and discovers that when she 'accidentally' injected one of the infected females that attacked her the people responsible for the post-production add-ons tack on some very, very cheap wave lens effects to the aliens and then they die. The heroes of the movie blow up the hospital in order to destroy the aliens and all those infected, but of course the ending is left wide-open for a sequel.
I'm pretty sure there are much better "I'm here to breed with your men to take over the planet" plot lines out there... oh yeah... Species I, II and III.

A Dumb Horror Movie, But Not Terrible

This is a silly movie and not very scary. It has some good gore effects and the acting is passable. The story is a standard, "Invaders from Space" story, but its ok. I liked the hospital setting and the music was fairly good.

Three libidinous and predatory aliens take on the enticing forms of a trio of candy stripers at a hospital in a small California town. The gals are looking for guys to use as breeders in order to produce more of their nefarious species and take over our planet. It's up to a handful of resourceful teenagers to thwart the lovely, but lethal ladies before it's too late. Director/co-writer Kate Robbins whips up an entertaining schlockoid straight-to-video romps that hits all the necessary pleasingly trashy bases: there's a decent smattering of tasty gratuitous female nudity, groovy bits of over-the-top gore, a few pretty hot and fairly raunchy sex scenes, a steady pace, tacky (not so) special effects, and some neat offbeat touches (the evil extraterrestrial babes pig out on sugary sweets and can be killed with insulin!). This movie starts out a bit slow, but picks up energy and becomes more increasingly daft in its gloriously ridiculous second half. The cheerfully pulpy Grade B sensibility at work throughout further adds to the infectiously inane fun. The acceptable acting from the competent rates as another plus, with especially solid work from Brian Lloyd as likable nice guy basketball player Matt, Tori White as spunky diabetic Cherie, Nicole Rayburn as snotty cheerleader Krystal, William Edwards Jr. as the infected Joey, and Kevin Thomas Fee as macho meathead Brian. The ravishing Deanna Brooks, the luscious Serria Tawan, and the yummy Eliza Swenson are all quite sexy and delectable as the titular deadly, yet desirable outer space foxes. Geoffrey Schaef's crisp cinematography makes funky occasional use of strenuous slow motion. Patrick Brocca's spirited shuddery score hits the shivery spot. A deliciously cheesy hoot and a half.

In a lonely road in Wucaipa, something attacks the driver of a car and her blind friend Tammy (Sarah Ball). They have a car accident; Tammy survives and is sent to the Wucaipa General Hospital. Meanwhile, a high school basketball team fights with the opponents in the square and the captain Matt (Brian Lloyd) with a broken leg, and his injured friends Joey (William Edwards Jr.) and Brian (Kevin Thomas Fee) are sent to the same hospital. Tammy is near death and asks the candy striper nurse Janine (Deanna Brooks) to kiss her. While kissing as a gesture of sympathy, an alien invades the mouth of Janine and infects her; she infects others nurses, clerks, doctors and patients, initiating an exponential virus outbreak in the hospital. Joey's sister Cherie (T. White) that has a crush on Matt stays with them in the hospital. When Joey is infected by a hot nurse during the night, he has webbing on the face and rush, and Matt asks Cherie to call his girlfriend Krystal (Nicole Rayburn) to help them to leave the hospital. But the place is under quarantine and the candy strippers need sugar to procreate a breed of alien.

Candy Stripers starts as friends Matt (Brian Lloyd), Joey (William Edwards Jr.) & Brian (Kevin Thomas Fee) are injured in a basketball game. They are taken to a local hospital where it is discovered Matt has hurt his leg so is left in traction, Joey has a suspected broken wrist & Brian, well is just hurt. Matt & his mates consider it their duty to rid the world of these alien parasites on their own because, well I don't actually.

The one notable aspect about Candy Stripers (apart from being total crap) is that the main creative force behind it were women, according to the credits Candy Stripers was written, produced & directed by women which only proves women can make a horror film as badly as any man. The script by Robbins & Jill Garson is awful, the sci-fi horror story is poorly thought out, developed & deeply unsatisfying. For a start the hospital in Candy Stripers is very underpopulated, where are all the patients & Doctors? They seem to have an over abundance of good looking candy stripers but in terms of patients & proper medical staff they have problems. Then there's the question I kept asking myself about where the hell were all the authorities? Since these candy stripers were killing everyone did the local police not think they should take action against them? The plot is sluggish & makes little sense, the character's are clichéd & do the most stupid things & the dialogue is awful.
Director Robbins does nothing to convince me women should be allowed to make films, I'm sorry but that's the way it is. She keeps the film moving along at a reasonably pace but it's all so poor, stupid & so far removed from reality it's impossible to be scared by it. There isn't even that much gore, there are a couple of poorly handled ripped out hearts, someone gets their head ripped off & someone gets shot in the forehead. The CGI computer effects are OK, the way the makers show the hospital blowing up at the end is to have the screen flash white! Those expecting lots of nudity & sex forget it, this is very tame & features little in the way of nudity. I live in the UK & to be honest I've never heard of the term candy striper, in truth I have absolutely no idea what a candy striper is or what they are supposed to do. We simply don't have them over here. One more thing, if you make it that far keep watching the end credits as there are some outtakes & behind the scenes fun footage.
Technically the film is strictly straight-to-video/DVD quality, it's alright but bland & forgettable with cheap looking special effects. Apparently shot in Los Angeles. The acting sucks too.

The plot is sluggish & makes little sense, the character's are clichéd & do the most stupid things & the dialogue is awful.
Director Robbins does nothing to convince me women should be allowed to make films, I'm sorry but that's the way it is. She keeps the film moving along at a reasonably pace but it's all so poor, stupid & so far removed from reality it's impossible to be scared by it. There isn't even that much gore, there are a couple of poorly handled ripped out hearts, someone gets their head ripped off & someone gets shot in the forehead. The CGI computer effects are OK, the way the makers show the hospital blowing up at the end is to have the screen flash white! Those expecting lots of nudity & sex forget it, this is very tame & features little in the way of nudity. I live in the UK & to be honest I've never heard of the term candy striper, in truth I have absolutely no idea what a candy striper is or what they are supposed to do. We simply don't have them over here. One more thing, if you make it that far keep watching the end credits as there are some outtakes & behind the scenes fun footage.
Technically the film is strictly straight-to-video/DVD quality, it's alright but bland & forgettable with cheap looking special effects. Apparently shot in Los Angeles. The acting sucks too.
Candy Stripers is another poor low budget rubbishy sci-fi horror film that doesn't satisfy in any department. If you enjoy watching crap films then Candy Stripers is for you, otherwise steer clear of it. Not good.

Okay, don't expect much from a low budget film that features numerous Playboy bunnies and you're in for a night of modest entertainment. Some of the scenes, alien transmission in particular, are so bad they are simply hilarious. My uncle almost died trying to watch this because he couldn't stand how stupid it was, however, with a group of friends getting through this film is very easy. The R-rating could only have been given for the partial nudity in the movie (breasts and bottoms) and not for the "violence". The "scary" scenes in here are only scary because of the cinematography, the blood is orange ... I mean ... come on, orange blood.
Watch for fun and don't take it seriously!

The movie starts with a teenage blind girl and her friend having a car accident, seemingly the blind girls friend dies and she is then taken to hospital. She has contracted an infection from some kind of alien seed. One of the candy stripers tries to help her stay alive but is also infected after they kiss. From then on the candy stripers are infecting each other, slaughtering people or trying to breed with several of the men in the hospital. They also like very sweet things but you will have to see to find out why!
It is up to a group of high school students who become trapped within the hospital to try and put an end to the madness. This film does offer something most viewers would like to see:horror,nudity,gore and some comedy too. Don't expect to see a great film although for its budget i feel as though it worked well with a few likable characters, the way in which the candy stripers were killed was unusual and there is a scene where one of the main candy stripers transforms into an alien and shows her true self.
Fairly predictable with a straight forward plot!

First of all, if you see this title then just don't pick it up if you think that you have found the 1978 version. This isn't really a remake but it takes place like the original one in a hospital. What we have here is a kind of SF horror flick but with a sauce of eroticism. Does it work, in some ways yes, there are some boobs in it, but it doesn't go any further (the 1978 was XXX). Is it frightening, no, it's one for the teenagers out there who's eyes will fall open by the boobs shown. We never see the monster, just some dildo kind one coming out of the girls mouth. The only out of space thing you will have is an alien's hand. The alien itself makes some kind of web but what we have is faces and people in those web, easy to see that the web was made of some snow spray for Christmas decoration. So it's in fact a bit cheesy and that's how you have to watch this flick. When killing the virus contained persons the effects used are very simple. It's low budget but somehow I kept entertained by it, would recommend it to teenagers.

An Alien parasite takes over Candy Stripers and Nurses in a Hospital increasing their sex drive (and cravings for sugar), then using the screwed males as cocooned hosts for their unborn slimy babies. It's up to a few high school friends to save the day, however, only the sweetest girl of the bunch who happens to have diabetes seems to know how to stop this erotic but deadly alien Invasion. Glossy Z-film that reminded me of Decoys minus silly humor. Not saying Candy Stripers is without goofy moments but sadly it ain't necessarily the better movie either. Not bad enough to dismiss, not good enough to praise. It won't hurt to rent and watch once - unless you can find better movies with a similar theme.

Of course this film is a load of nonsense, and it's not difficult to pick holes in it. But therein lies the appeal of films such as this. Other reviewers have pointed out many of the implausibilities and the liberal use of stereotypes. But it has a plot (of sorts!) and visually it's pretty good, with relatively few obvious continuity errors. And, above all, it's great fun - and the Candy Stripers are undoubtedly very easy on the eye.
By the way, was I the only one who actually wanted the Candy Stripers to win?! There was, naturally, scope left in the ending for a follow-up. I'd love to see a sequel - 'Revenge of the Candy Stripers'!

A blind girl (Sarah Ball) infected with an alien seed lies in a hospital bed, a candy striper (Deanna Brooks) watching her. "Give me a kiss" she asks and the candy striper, a little weirded out, gives this dying girl her last wish. While they kiss, an alien pops out her mouth and infects her as well. Now this candy striper infects the others (Monique Cooper, Eliza Swenson, Serria Tawan) and they go on a mission to either infect or kill the rest of the hospital, right as out heros (Brian Lloyd, William Edwards Jr., Kevin Thomas Fee, Nicole Rayburn, and Tori White) arrive.
Okay, everyone here is pointing out the fact that Playboy bunnies are given starring roles in this movie. Sure, they're not so great at acting, but they surprise you with OK jobs and they do more than sex scenes (There's only 2).

After being sent to a local hospital, a high-school basketball player and his teammates find that the staff is actually a race of aliens disguised as sexy nurses looking to score more bodies for their conquest plans and forces them to band together to escape alive.
This one wasn't all that bad and did have some solid points. One of the more enjoyable aspects of this one is the fact that it really plays out the fantasy aspect of the aliens. The sensuality of their physical appearances, their uniforms and the general air of sultriness that comes from the prospect of them being disguised as nurses really works here, and the fact that this allows for the great scenes of them seducing everyone in order to turn them. With these scenes constituting the majority of the first half here where it's all about the hidden identity of the aliens and their behavior towards the group not only lets this get plenty of sleazy thrills out of the prospect of getting the nurses to seduce and turn them, and once things take a far more morbid turn when they discover the true nature of them it becomes far more enjoyable as this turns into a series of great action-packed set-pieces that are rather enjoyable. The attacks with the nurses coming after the group as they attempt to leave the hospital, make for quite a fine series of chases, the constant turns deep into the hospital where they find the corridors leading into the basement where all the previous victims are stored in a cocoon-like setup which offers plenty of chilling images showing the bodies all tied up and laying down the big barricades in the boiler room to finally stop them all gives this the kind of great action in the final half. Even the fun attack where the nurses go on the offensive in the lobby ripping everyone to pieces including all the patients and guards which is quite the enjoyable time as that really brings out the great blood and gore nicely. These here are the film's positives which are more than enough to overcome the few flaws here. The biggest issue is the fact that there's no reason for the aliens to be there at the hospital since there's nothing given about the small-town hospital being needed or what they're actually trying to do, and the fact that there's little actual screen time for the alien. It has a rather confusing nature in the first half as well since there's little in the way in which they take over the hospital without them knowing what's going on, as this manages to really seem quite illogical how they managed to accomplish this without anyone knowing as they finally discover the threat halfway through finally forcing them into action at that point to keep the secret. Along with some shoddy CGI that pops up, these here are what hold it back.
Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Nudity and some sexual scenes.
