Paul is in tough luck and out of a job. He is walking through the country. When passing a farm, the odor of an appetizing meal assails his nostrils. Plucking up courage, he asks for food and is told that he can have a good meal provided he works for it. Being a city chap he had but little knowledge of procedure on the farm but tackled the various jobs given him courageously. The farmer viewing his efforts at first with amusement and later with anger - gives him other jobs which he handles more competently, but poor Paul's undoing comes at the finish when he attempts to make the cow sit down while he milks her. This proves too much for the farmer and the last we see of Paul he is seen beating it toward the city in a cloud of dust.
