Exclusive: UK distributor Signature has picked up five movies including recent Frank Grillo crime-thriller Body Brokers and noughties Brit comedy Scenes Of A Sexual Nature.
Also new to the slate are Korean crime caper Lucky Grandma, Julie Delpy tear-jerker My Zoe and true-story drama Miss Virginia.
Body Brokers, starring Grillo, Melissa Leo and Michael K Williams, charts the true story of a multi-billion-dollar drug and alcohol treatment scheme where former drug addicts and dealers become millionaires as fly-by-night ‘body brokers’, recruiting other addicts to seek treatment and selling these patients off to facilities at the highest price. Set for release in 2021, the film was picked up from Voltage Pictures.
Miss Virginia stars Orange Is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba as a struggling inner-city mother who sacrifices everything to give her son a good education. Acquired from Moving Picture Institute, the film is due to be released across platforms in October.

The UK premiere of British comedy Swimming With Men – starring Rob Brydon, Adeel Akhatar, Jim Carter, Rupert Graves, Thomas Turgoose and Daniel Mays – will close Edinburgh International Film Festival on July 1.
Directed by BAFTA-nominated Oliver Parker and written by Aschlin Ditta (Scenes Of A Sexual Nature) the film stars Brydon as an accountant who finds escapism from his mid-life crisis after joining an all-male group of synchronised swimmers. Initially keeping their personal lives in the locker, the ramshackle squad and coach Susan (Charlotte Riley) slowly begin to reveal their inner lives, as well as their paunches. But can they get their routines, not to mention their lives, in sync as they embark on an unlikely journey to Milan to compete in the World Championship? Brydon and Parker are expected to attend...

Not even a week after Florian Habicht’s documentary about Britpop outfit Pulp is released, comes a sweet drama from first time filmmakers Stewart Alexander and Kerry Skinner, that shares the same name of the band’s signature hit. However that is where similarities end, as this ensemble piece instead bears comparisons to Ed Blum’s 2006 endeavour, Scenes of a Sexual Nature.
Set on a London common, predominantly across one day – we delve into the lives of various people, some passing through, some staying for the afternoon. We meet the widowed Ian (Iarla McGowan) and his young daughter, the pregnant Jenny – played by co-director Skinner, the alcoholic Harry, played by other director Alexander, and elderly couple Derrick (Sam Kelly) and Pam (Diana Payan), to name just a few. Each character with their own respective problems, but as the day turns to night, the varying narratives combine, and blend in to one another.

He's turned 40, moved his family to Los Angeles and spends his time tinkering with motorbikes. Midlife crisis? No fear
In the corner of his regular haunt, a bustling restaurant in the posh suburb of Brentwood, Los Angeles, Ewan McGregor takes a break from his shrimp salad to consider the apocalypse.
"I'm not remotely worried," he says. "For all of the hurtling towards climate change, there's also a lot more understanding of it than there was when we were kids. They don't call environmentalists tree huggers any more, so there's hope!"
Doomsday would be an odd fixation for McGregor. After all, life is rather good. He has five movies coming down the pipe, and promising ones, too. There's Bryan Singer's sword-swinging fantasy Jack the Giant Killer and The Impossible, in which he and Naomi Watts face the 2004 tsunami. He also plays a stuffy scientist who falls for Emily Blunt in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,...

Two names not necessarily synonymous with rom-coms have got to be Bronson's various-voiced Tom 'hardman' Hardy and Terminator Salvation's minute-monikered director McG.
But the pair are teaming up for an action-romance, and now we come to think of it, perhaps this could be a good thing. Fresh from an outstanding performance in Chris Nolan's Inception, Hardy seems like he can do anything. He's played war heroes, wideboys, straight, gay, bulky, wirey and contrary to initial reaction, has done a rom-com before, in the shape of Brit ensemble flick Scenes of a Sexual Nature.
And hopefully, like Scenes - where he gets him bum out on Hampstead Heath within five minutes of being on screen, and later looks so frisky he's set to have it off with a dog - This Means War will have a little of his contrary charm, which perhaps couldn't be injected by other stars...

English actor Andrew Lincoln has won the lead role in AMC's The Walking Dead, playing police officer Rick Grimes in the show.
Lincoln began his acting career in 1994 in Drop the Dead Donkey. He went on to roles in Gangster No. 1, Love Actually, Scenes of a Sexual Nature and most recently the TV series Strike Back. Lincoln joins the previously announced Jon Bernthal (The Pacific) who will play Shane, Rick's fellow police officer and best friend from before the zombie apocalypse.
"Andrew Lincoln, wow -- what an amazing find this guy is," said Robert Kirkman, the comic book's creator. "Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human being, and yet here he is. I couldn't be more thrilled with how this show is coming together."...

...One: Musical Ewan
[photo src]
Moulin Rouge! may have showcased his vocal abilities to best and most acclaimed effect so far, but back in 1993 when he was starting out Ewan forswore the Suez Crisis for girls and guitars in Dennis Potter’s musical-drama TV throwback Lipstick on Your Collar. The first time I saw him in anything he was shrugging off clerk work and leaping on his desk in gold Elvis get-up miming to ‘Don’t Be Cruel’. And of course four years later the karaoke resurfaced in A Life Less Ordinary, where Ewan’s spontaneous serenading of Cameron Diaz was the only thing that wasn’t lifeless and ordinary. Belting out the tunes came second to his lascivious Iggy Pop-meets-Kurt Cobain routines in Velvet Goldmine, but he gamely sang every song himself. He’s an under-praised cinematic crooner – it’s one of his most dependable attributes.

First time British director/producer Ed Blum's Ewan McGregor-starrer Scenes of a Sexual Nature gets its final market screening at the Star 4 Tuesday at 9: 30 a.m. One of the hottest screenings in the market, the movie also stars Sophie Okonedo, Gina McKee and Douglas Hodge despite, said Blum, being made "for less than 'Love Actually's' catering budget." The Works International is selling the title.
