Season one follows a regular format: Orel misinterprets the Reverand's speech, carries out a bizarre/inappropriate plan, and, at the end of the episode, is punished in his father's study. The final episode in this season, The Best Christmas Ever!, reverses this a bit, by leaving the ending in a bit of a bleak state.
Season two mixes both this comedy and newly-adapted character studies, often resulting in further examinations of who and what exactly these Moralton residents truly are, and how they affect Orel in the long-run. The two-part finale to this season, Nature: Part 1 and Nature: Part 2, marks the official turning point in the series for most fans.
The third and final season goes once more into character analyzations, albeit in a much more depressing manner than before. Little to no comedy (well, at the very least, when compared to the first two) persists in this batch of episodes, hence the reputation of the series getting progressively darker and darker with each passing episode.
