It is quite a common occurrence that if a comedian is extremely funny, they have probably dabbled in writing, creating, and directing at some point. While a lot of them see great success through this, there are the rare few who fail miserably and never look that way again. Unfortunately for Ben Stiller, his case was the latter.
Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum
Although he is primarily known for his comedy, the actor was also the man behind the camera in the 2001 film Zoolander, acting as director. The film was a hit and became a cult classic in the best of ways. This is why, when the decision to make a second film was announced, fans were excited. However, when Zoolander 2 hit theaters, the reaction was concerningly negative.

Marvel Studios currently has several movies in development, with one of the most notable being ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Based on early comments from viewers, it’s expected to rejuvenate faith in the MCU among fans.
Reportedly, this movie was chosen as the sole release for 2024 following disappointing performances of ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’
According to Daniel Richtman, a well-known source, director Shawn Levy has impressed MCU executives, leading to expectations of more projects for him in the future.
Shawn Levy began his career directing television and gained fame in the 2000s with comedies like ‘Big Fat Liar’ and ‘Just Married.’ He went on to helm successful franchises such as ‘Cheaper by the Dozen,’ ‘The Pink Panther,’ and ‘Night at the Museum.’ In the early 2010s, Levy directed ‘Date Night’ and ‘Real Steel,’ alongside developing TV pilots and producing ‘Last Man Standing.’

Marvel Studios has quite a few movies currently in development or rumored to be currently in development and one of the most notable ones is certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Based on the comments so far from the people who have seen parts of the movie, it’s going to be an McU-saver and restore the faith of the fans in the franchise as a whole.
Reportedly, that was the reason why it was selected to be the only movie to release in 2024 following the abysmal results of ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ movies that barely scraped by when it comes to the box office.
Now according to Daniel Richtman, notable scooper and leaker, the movie’s director Shawn Levy impressed the execs of MCU and we can expect him to get more projects down the line.

As far as Hollywood comedies go, Ben Stiller’s name is synonymous with some of the funniest films in the industry. His unique brand of humor and dialogue delivery has gained him a loyal fan base while also making him one of Hollywood’s A-list stars. Stiller also proved that he is an accomplished director with blockbuster films like Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, and Zoolander.

The first film is an untitled feature-length documentary depicting the return of Blur, captured across a year in which the band made a surprise return with their first record in eight years, the #1 album “The Ballad of Darren.” It follows the relationship of the bandmates of over three decades as they come together to record 10 new songs ahead of their sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in 2023. Shawn Levy's 2011 sci-fi film "Real Steel" takes place in the near future of 2020 when boxing and Mma have been banned, having been replaced by high-octane robot fights. Robot "trainers" buy up powerful, tank-like fighting bots, program their unique fighting moves prior to a match, and then pit them against each other in outsize, heavily sponsored arenas. The robot to remain un-smashed is declared the victor. Hugh Jackman plays a former boxer turned robot trainer who aims to purchase a high-profile robot called Noisy Boy and relive his glory days, but his attempts fail. Instead, he begins seeing potential in a battered, unassuming, out-of-date sparring robot named Atom salvaged from a dump. The robots in "Real Steel" aren't alive, but Levy does throw in a handful of shots implying that Atom may be ... feeling something.
"Real Steel" wasn't talked about a lot upon its release, and only opened to $27 million domestically.

In a recent New Yorker profile, Craig Mazin, who wrote The Last of Us and Chernobyl, calls Queen’s Gambit co-creator Scott Frank “one of the best screenwriters of all time.”
Long a known quantity for Get Shorty, Out of Sight, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Marley and Me, The Wolverine and Logan, Frank opens up to the magazine about his less-recognized work: The nearly 60 films he has worked on as a script doctor, earning at times $300,000 a week.
Among the films on that less-well-known list are, according to the piece, Saving Private Ryan, The Ring, Gravity, Night at the Museum, Unfaithful, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Night at the Museum and, says Frank, “a lot of the X-Men movies.” Which ones? “I don’t remember their titles,” he said.
“Ninety-percent of what I get called in on is character work,” Frank told The New Yorker.

The career of Scott Frank got a lengthy deep dive courtesy of a profile in The New Yorker that revealed the writer-director has a $300,000 weekly fee as a Hollywood script doctor. Frank acknowledges this fee is “insane,” but being a script doctor is how he’s made a life for himself despite being a credited screenwriter on films by Steven Soderbergh (“Out of Sight”), Barry Sonnenfield (“Get Shorty”), James Mangold and more. He’s also the Emmy-winning writer and director of Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit.” Plus, $300,000 a week feels earned after putting the finishing touches on nearly 60 films, including “Saving Private Ryan,” “Night at the Museum,” “Unfaithful,” “The Ring,” “Gravity” and “a lot of the X-Men movies.”
A “script doctor” is the term given to a screenwriter hired to punch up or reshape a pre-existing script, be it smoothing out a messy third act or overhauling the dialogue to make a character more memorable.

Friday Afternoon: Right now, it’s looking like Warner Bros/DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will arrive at $40M over 4-days, which is where tracking had it.
That said, Warners can boast, and CEO David Zaslav can be happy, in having the top two films at the box office along with Wonka‘s second weekend in the No. 2 spot with a projected $31M over the Dec. 22-25 span. Friday/previews for Aquaman 2 is $14M with a 3-day of $30M at 3,706 theaters. Wonka‘s second Friday is $7M (-51%), which translates to a 3-day of $22M at 4,213 theaters. We’re hearing that Color Purple‘s Christmas Day gross could be around $10M-$12M, which would put it in the No. 4 spot behind Illumination and Universal’s Migration which is looking at $18M at 3,761 theaters; a better than expected result than the $10M-$12M we were hearing about.

There’s lots of reasons for the strong $39 million domestic debut for “Wonka” (Warner Bros.), but what studios will notice most is this: For the first time in his already impressive career, 27-year-old Timothée Chalamet has opened a $100 million+ budget movie, and worldwide.
The awards season also brought two new platform releases, with “American Fiction” (Amazon MGM) “The Zone of Interest” (A24) off to a strong start although neither came close to last week’s initial results for “Poor Things” (Searchlight). Yorgos Lanthimos’ film broadened to 82 theaters, maintaining an excellent $15,000-plus PTA.
The musical prequel to Roald Dahl’s classic fantasy opened a week earlier than normal for a family-oriented Christmas film; Warners will also open “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” next Friday and “The Color Purple” Christmas Day.
The earlier release gave “Wonka” access to premium screens (“Aquaman” will get most of them next week), but if reaction was...

After directing three “Night at the Museum” movies, Shawn Levy didn’t want to be confined to directing family comedies for the rest of his career. If you’re doing something successfully, he told IndieWire, it’s easy to be “pigeonholed” by Hollywood into that one thing.
But he’s been far from limited under the banner of his own production company, 21 Laps. Levy and his company have been prolific hit-makers since it launched in 2006, and he has produced and directed everything from indie darlings (“The Spectacular Now”), ambitious Best Picture nominees (“Arrival”), studio blockbuster satires (“Free Guy“), prestige limited series (“All the Light We Cannot See”), Stephen King horror movies (“The Boogeyman”), and the biggest Netflix show ever (“Stranger Things”), all of which depart from the family-friendly event movies on which he cut his teeth.
“You need to refuse to be limited by everyone else’s assumptions,” Levy told IndieWire during a recent interview.

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. It’s been nine years since we said goodbye to Robin Williams, who left behind a highlight reel of hilarious scenes and moments of impassioned drama. And no compilation would be complete without any number of clips from 1993’s Mrs. Doubtfire, which, probably for the better, never got a sequel despite being a hit with audiences, proving to be the #2 movie worldwide that year behind Jurassic Park.
As director Chris Columbus put it, “It’s an interesting thing. Back then, there was an attitude that sequels were looked down upon by the artists. So Robin was against doing a sequel immediately after.” Perhaps surprisingly, Williams only ever did a few sequels in his entire career: a Dtv Aladdin one, Happy Feet Two and a pair for Night at the Museum.

Bob Iger says Disney is going all-in on streaming.
The Disney CEO laid out a new course on Wednesday for the company’s streaming business, saying the company would launch a beta version of a combined Disney+ and Hulu app offering in December and make achieving “significant and sustained profitability” for its streaming business a top priority.
The company’s confidence was supported by strong streaming results in Q4, adding 7 million subscribers to Disney+, mostly international.
With the company set to purchase Comcast’s remaining 33% minority stake of Hulu for at least $8.61 billion in 2024 and a fully direct-to-consumer version of ESPN targeting a 2025 launch, Disney has laid the groundwork to execute a more focused assault on its competitors.
“If you think about the portfolio of streaming assets that we will have — Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN — that’s a very, very strong hand,” Iger said on the company’s Q4 call with analysts.

Shawn Levy opens up about why he felt drawn to direct Netflix’s new miniseries All the Light We Cannot See.
The Steven Knight-created four-episode series, adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr, follows Marie-Laure, a blind French teen, who forms an unlikely relationship with a German soldier, Werner, after she takes refuge from World War II in her uncle’s town in France.
“When I read the first draft of the first episode of the adaptation, my plan was to produce the show, maybe direct an episode,” Levy told People magazine in a recent interview. “But after I read it, I knew I needed to do it all myself.”
Though the series is unlike the usual genre he goes for, he explained, “I loved the book, I loved the adaptation. And it connected to my prior work in that it is fundamentally — and unabashedly — emotional,...

Shawn Levy would be "happy" to make a sequel to 'Free Guy'.The 55-year-old director helmed the 2021 video game-set movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer and thinks there is a chance for a follow-up to materialise. In an interview with Wired, Shawn said: "It's been floated, it floats, because Ryan and I love that movie. I'd say it's a big maybe, but boy it would sure make us happy."'Free Guy' was met with a positive reception when it was released and Levy credited Reynolds as the "engine" that made the picture work. The 'Night at the Museum' director told ComicBook.com: "The truth is, as I said, if you're lucky enough to direct Ryan Reynolds in a starring role, you get all these secret weapons in addition."And the truth is that Ryan has very quirky, weird, inspired musical taste. So whether it was...

Were one to go into “All the Light We Cannot See” totally cold — drawn to the four-part limited series, say, purely by its placement atop Netflix’s home page — it would be impossible to discern that it was based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel celebrated for its lyricism and profundity.
The dialogue here is pedestrian. The lead character, blind French teenager Marie-Laure LeBlanc (screen newcomer Aria Mia Loberti), escapes the German invasion of Paris in World War II with her father, Daniel (Mark Ruffalo). They seek refuge in the French port city of Saint-Malo. Yet throughout the journey, and the limited series, our Gallic heroine and Papa LeBlanc speak English with British accents.
The series’ wartime visuals are dark and obviously CG-enhanced. More practical effects include perfectly contained fires placed in strategic spots to indicate — along with James Newton Howard’s overwrought score — that a neighborhood has been bombed.

Before there were dramas on television, there were dramas on the radio. With no visuals to present to their audience, radio series had to conjure up entire worlds out of carefully scripted narration, homespun special effects, and the sheer vibrance of their actors’ voices. Done right, whether back then or in modern podcast fiction, the effect can be magical, with the soundscape creating an experience that can be just as immersive as, if not more than, a story you watch on a screen. Heck, in 1938, Orson Welles nearly caused a...

Prolific producer and director Shawn Levy fell in love with “All the Light We Cannot See” long before he was attached to adapt the 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr into a new Netflix limited series, out Thursday, November 2. “I did not read it as a filmmaker. I read it as a reader,” he said to IndieWire over Zoom. “By the time I got back from whatever holiday I was on where I read that book, the rights were already unavailable, having been snatched up by Scott Rudin and Fox Searchlight.”
The story of a blind French teenager Marie-Laure and German soldier Werner connecting via radio, providing each other salvation under the devastation of WWII, caught Levy right as he’d made the deliberate decision to take a step back from directing films, and focus on producing. “I had, at that point, directed maybe like nine movies in 11 or 12 years.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses some general plot developments in Season 2, Episode 2 of “Loki,” currently streaming on Disney+.
For 30 years, Dan Deleeuw has worked in visual effects, from “The Mask” to “Armageddon” to “Night at the Museum” — but he always had a dream that one day, he might get to direct. That opportunity finally arrived in 2019, when “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo — who’d worked with Deleeuw on VFX for their three previous Marvel Studios productions — hired him to shoot some additional photography for the behemoth production. That gig led to second unit directing jobs on 2021’s “Eternals” and 2023’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and then, finally, to the main directors chair for the second episode of Season 2 of “Loki.”

Shawn Levy recently opened up about his experience starring in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film.
The director played Swift’s father in the 14-minute music video for her hit song, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).” He starred opposite Sadie Sink, who portrayed Swift, and Dylan O’Brien, as a boyfriend she dated when she was in her early 20s. Levy explained his four daughters are between the ages of 12 and 24, and the Grammy-winning artist has been “their only shared idol.”
“When she asked me to be in the video for ‘All Too Well,’ and I was able to bring all four daughters to be in that video with me, I got dad cred for life,” Levy told People. Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman share a meal with director Shawn Levy amid filming delays
The production of Deadpool 3, the highly anticipated sequel to the hit superhero comedy franchise, has been put on hold due to the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes that have affected the film industry. However, that did not stop the stars of the movie, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, from spending some quality time with their director, Shawn Levy.
Levy, who is best known for directing the Night at the Museum series and Stranger Things, shared a photo of himself with Reynolds and Jackman on his Instagram stories. The trio looked happy and relaxed as they enjoyed a meal together, presumably in Vancouver, where the movie was being filmed before the shutdown. Levy captioned the photo with “Three amigos waiting to shoot again”.

Nobody loves celebrating Disney more than, well, the folks who run Disney do, but can you blame them? After 100 years of making animated feature films and shorts, the House of Mouse has amassed an incredible pop cultural cache of iconography and beloved characters. So, what better way to cap off its year-long celebration of Disney Animation's centennial than with a short film that's all about how awesome Disney is?
While it's easy and wholly justified to be cynical about the business side of Disney (especially when you consider what its executives are like when it comes to providing fair treatment and monetary compensation for their employees), it's impossible to put a price on the value of the studio's art itself. That's also why it's difficult not to feel something while watching the trailer for Disney's "Once Upon a Studio," a live-action/animated short that, quite literally, brings treasured animated heroes...

Shawn Levy did not want to rely on green screens for 'Deadpool 3'.The 55-year-old director is helming the latest film in the superhero franchise and says it is worth having photos from the set leaked if it means that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) flick doesn't use green screen trickery.Shawn told Total Film magazine: "It bums me out that photos have leaked online. But this is the price we pay for committing to real locations. "I made a decision very early in prep that even though 'Deadpool' is now in the MCU, I didn't want another Marvel movie shot on a green screen stage with digital set extensions."'Deadpool 3' – which is slated for release in May 2024 – sees Ryan Reynolds return as the 'merc with a mouth' and Hugh Jackman reprising the role of Wolverine. With the strikes currently ongoing in the American movie and television industry, practically the only way to get some legit information or some promotion for the upcoming projects is from the studios’ official social media accounts or through directors since DGA (Director’s Guild of America) isn’t on strike. However, with many productions currently on hold, some directors can only provide vague answers about their potential projects in the future.
One of the productions that the strikes affected is the one of ‘Deadpool 3,’ the upcoming movie which is highly anticipated among the MCU fans for a good number of reasons. The movie is set to introduce Regenerating Degenerate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s going to feature many special returns, including the one of Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine and Jennifer Garner as Elektra.

Albert Einstein reportedly said that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Like many quotes commonly attributed to historical figures who have appeared in the Night at the Museum franchise, Einstein never actually said this. But to paraphrase another famous historical figure, Caroline Marie Bradshaw, I couldn’t help but think about that quote while watching this season of And Just Like That…, the oft-maligned Sex and the City reboot. Whether it’s the questionable FX, the lead star’s very controversial dalliances, or just audiences being burned one too many times by Comic Book Films, there’s one movie that is all anyone can talk about. And look, I get it. There was a lot of craziness that went on during this production and had more people come and go due to creative differences than any movie we’ve covered on the show.
Warning you guys and gals right now, if you haven’t seen The Flash, you’re going to want to turn back now, because this is where things get Super spoilery.
Warner Brothers tried getting a Flash movie off the ground in the late 80’s with comic writer Jeph Loeb being brought in to write the screenplay. Unfortunately nothing ever came of the property until 2004 when David S Goyer signed on to write, direct and produce a new Flash.

HBO’s upcoming series The Idol has gone through at least one major creative overhaul since it was announced, with co-creator Amy Seimetz leaving the show in April 2022. Euphoria’s Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) then took over as creators for the series, reshaping it to fit their vision and the version of the show set to premiere June 4, 2023.
We don’t know much about the series, other than HBO’s official logline that reads “After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" was a major commercial success when it first premiered in June 2004. At the time, the film grossed over $168 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. Its raunchy comedy, feel-good story, and hilarious cast helped make the movie a classic 2000s hit. Now, 19 years later, Deadline reports the film is officially getting a sequel, and yes, it'll star Vince Vaughn.
As you may remember, the original film starred Vaughn as Peter Lafleur, the owner of a small, local gym called Average Joe's Gym that's in danger of being taken over by his business rival White Goodman (Ben Stiller), who's the owner of the bigger Globo Gym across the street. When Peter hears about a dodgeball tournament that's giving away a $50,000 prize, he enters the competition with a group of misfits in hopes of using the prize money to save his business.

We've been waiting for Janine and Gregory to finally face their feelings for one another all season, and it finally happened inside the Franklin Institute's walk-through heart on Abbott Elementary Season 2 Episode 22.
Was this the result we were hoping to see? Not quite.
But it is where they need to be right now, whether we shippers like it or not.
Students and teachers were equally excited about their overnight field trip to the Franklin Institute.
Barbara was there with what appeared to be half of her bedroom in tow, including her C-Pap machine, while Melissa got to mock a museum volunteer who had the unbelievable gall to be from somewhere other than Philly.
And Ava shared her views on alien life on Earth which held enough truth to be thought-provoking despite Ava somehow painting the picture of drunk aliens on a lazy river.
But who wouldn't be thrilled to go on an overnight field trip?...
Was this the result we were hoping to see? Not quite.
But it is where they need to be right now, whether we shippers like it or not.

It’s been almost nine years since the death of actor and comedian Robin Williams shook the entertainment world to its core.
The star of films including Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting and Night at the Museum was 63 when he died on 11 August 2014.
Despite the time that has passed, anecdotes of the countless good deeds he did for others continue to be shared, most recently when Nathan Lane revealed how Williams protected him during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
One of Williams’ most popular films was Jumanji, the 1995 blockbuster co-starring Bonnie Hunt and Jonathan Hyde.
It also featured Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce, who were child stars at the time. In 2020, celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary, Pierce revealed how Williams once stepped in to defend him from over-demanding producers.
Jumanji followed two children whose worlds collides with Williams’s Alan Parrish, who got sucked into the magical board game as a young boy.

With Fantasy Suites right around the corner, “The Bachelor‘s” Zach Shallcross is getting real about the infamous “sex week” nickname that has taken over Bachelor nation and sheds light on his approach to the week full of potential overnight dates.
“That was a joke on how the week has been historically viewed,” Zach told TheWrap. “For me, it was another opportunity to spend with the women where the cameras, the producers [are gone]. It’s a full, huge chunk of time, whereas like a typical date, a one-on-one or group date … it’s pretty short in the grand scheme of things.”
While Zach planned to embrace this “uninterrupted” time in which he and the women could talk about things they would never feel comfortable discussing on camera, the leading man hinted that Fantasy Suites don’t go as smoothly as he wished, despite his best efforts.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” won Best Visual Effects at the Oscars this Sunday, and the team that brought Pandora to vivid life in James Cameron’s blockbuster took the stage to celebrate. But for one team member, the evening took a turn shortly afterwards, as senior visual effects supervisor Eric Saindon was rushed to the hospital for surgery immediately after his win.
According to a rep from Weta FX, the visual effects production company behind “The Way of Water,” Saindon experienced intense pain throughout the day of the Oscars and checked into a Beverly Hills hospital around noon. After testing negative for appendicitis and kidney stones, Saindon decided to still attend the awards ceremony, and received painkillers from his doctors.
After powering through to winning the Visual Effects award, Saindon experienced more pain, and left his press room interview at the ceremony to return to the hospital. Doctors determined...
