2017-11-17T12:08:44-08:00Fox News Permanently Bans Gene Simmons
We've been watching Kiss bassist and star of Gene Simmons Family Jewels behave outrageously for the past 40 years, but apparently Fox News wasn't paying attention. When Simmons visited the network for a planned on-air appearance, he caused a stir by making bad jokes, unbuttoning his shirt and tapping an employee on the head. It was all a bit too much for the delicate folks at Fox, who banned Simmons from the network for life.
Via The New York Post.
Kiss frontman Gene Simmons reportedly was banned from Fox News after harassing employees and making crude statements during a promotional appearance at the network Thursday.
Simmons had just completed an interview with Fox Business about his new book when he arrived for an entertainment feature on the 14th floor and began acting inappropriately, according to The Daily Beast.

Hell is Where the Home Is : Burns’ Dismally Heavy-handed Dark Comedy
Playing like the crass, harebrained sister of Gone Girl’s infidelity issued ‘hell hath no fury’ treatment like a you-know-what, Anthony Burns’ sophomore feature, Home Sweet Hell plays like a watered down knock-off on all variable fronts. Broadly drawn, familiar scenarios littered with quirky supporting characters comprise this crude lump of a movie, hewn from the burnt stump of privileged suburban malaise, a dish once perfected now over baked into mutations of vulgar shock effect. Surprisingly, however, the very aspect of the film that works against its own appeal happens to be the sole point of enjoyment. But it’s not enough to make the film worthwhile.

Big Brother housemates Winston Showan, Helen Wood and Mark Byron tried to better themselves today - in various tough challenges.
For the Personal Best task, the trio were each given a different activity to carry out - but what they didn't know is they would have to repeat the task twice, and they would have to do better the second time to pass.
Winston took part in the Hot Stuffing challenge - how many chillis could he eat in 60 seconds? He managed four on his first attempt, but bumped that up to five during the second round.
Elsewhere, Mark was lucky enough to face the Level Pegging task, and was told to put as many pegs on his face as possible. He managed 13 on his first attempt, but 20 on his second.
Finally, Helen faced the Balls Out challenge, in which she had to use her mouth to pull out balls...

“Modern Family” star Julie Bowen went all the way to Australia, and all her kids got were these lousy kangaroo balls. Bowen and the “Modern Family” cast shot an episode of the hit ABC sitcom Down Under, where the actress came back with fond memories and, very likely, a pair of decorative marsupial testicles. See photo: Seth Rogen Goes Balls Out in Explicit New Selfie When there was some discrepancy about the distinction between the balls themselves and scrotum (“What's the difference?” Bowen whispered), host Conan O'Brien, sidekick Andy Richter and their guest each took turns drawing the parts of the male.

Reality television was just waiting for Gene Simmons, wasn’t it? When you think about it, it’s perfect. Kiss’s frontman had already built a career on sonic abrasion and unrestrained self love, so it only makes sense that one day he would forgo the actual, you know, music and cut straight to the implicit promise that Simmons needs to be followed around with cameras at all times, so great is the certainty that he will do something that will need to be documented for posterity. Hence Gene Simmons’s Family Jewels, a reality show as reprehensible as any of them, but at the very least doesn’t ruin that previously cashing in on dignity.

ITV has acquired its third American indie, paying $30m (£19m) for a controlling stake in Hatfields & McCoys producer Thinkfactory Media.
The broadcaster has bought a 65% of the Us indie and has a “put and call option” to buy up the remainder of the company, which can be excercised after three years. Any further payments will be linked to the performance of the company.
La-based Thinkfactory was founded by Leslie Greif and is known for creating programming in a wide-range of genres, from features and mini-series to unscripted series, docs and music specials.
The deal, brokered by About Corporate Finance, comes hot on the heels of other recent acquisitions for ITV, including last month’s $25m (£16m) investment for a 60% stake of Cake Boss producer High Noon and April’s acquisition of UK producer The Garden, for which it paid £18m in cash with an unstipulated further cash payment over the next five years.

Steel Panther have built a massive following since the release of 2009’s debut “Feel the Steel”. Parodying all that was 80’s American hair/glam metal excess (think Poison and Motley Crue), some critics may have questioned the longevity of what is essentially “just” a comedy band. Well fast forward to 2012, and I’m glad to report they’d be eating their words.
Selling out an almost 2000 capacity venue on a Wednesday night is pretty darn impressive and it’s nice to see some costume clad revellers amongst the crowd. Peering through the wigs, I spot several children – I’m going to assume the parents have took the time to listen to the band, and have mentally prepared for “Little Jimmy” asking what “two in the pink and one in the stink” actually means.
