Sex & Nudity

  • Tifa and Aerith wear some suggestive clothing.

Violence & Gore

  • In one part of the game you use a sniper rifle, however you only shoot robots.
  • There's barely any blood or go, but there is a LOT of violence and killing towards human characters. In the first 2 minutes, the main character kills at least 10 human soldiers with a sword. It's not as bad as a lot of other games, and most of the killing happens for a good reason, but its still something to be wary of.
  • Sword battles and milder violence.

Profanity

  • Mild language throughout like damn and hell. A few shits.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Probably implied.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The game's main villain, Genesis, is a very bad person that might intimidate younger players. He raids his home town, killing all of its inhabitants, murders his parents, and later pressures Angeal into killing his mother and joining him.
  • Zack goes through plenty of emotional damage throughout this game.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • There's a part where you have to rush to Angeal's mother's house to try to save her from the bombing that Genesis is carrying out on the town. When you get to her house, however, her limp corpse is laying on the ground. Angeal is seen standing grimly in the corner, holding a sword. It is then immediately confirmed that Angeal killed his mother.
  • At the end of the game, Zack is laying on a cliffside covered in blood and bullet wounds (Holes in his clothing). Blood is mostly on his face and in a puddle next to him mixed with water.
