Sex & Nudity

  • A man and woman are cut to in the middle of sex, shown from the waist up with the woman sitting on top of the man who is also sitting up. Her breasts are visible. No male nudity.
  • A male and female character kiss and begin groping each other, with intimate actions, and some heavy breathing. They remove their shirts and the woman eventually removes her bra revealing the side of her breast briefly.
  • The woman who kissed and had sex with the man cooks spaghetti dressed only in an apron. Her buttocks is visible in a couple shots, and her breasts are clearly visible from the side and partially poke out of the apron in several angles.
  • The backside of a male amputee is shown, naked and prone on a hospital bed several times. His buttocks is clearly visible and the back of his genitals are briefly shown from a distance. He is later shown sitting in a wheelchair dressed from the waist up, nude from the waist down. His penis is clearly visible in two brief shots.
  • Several characters reference sex with each other in conversations.

Violence & Gore

  • In flashbacks, a man imagines several ways of killing his wife. Each idea is briefly shown. One scene shows him wrapping a rope around her neck to strangle her. Another shows him hacking her head with a hatchet. We do not see a clear angle of this happening, but we do see two strokes and blood spattering through the air (the most disturbing scene). A third scene shows her drinking tea in the background, as her face falls on the table (she is presumedly poisoned).
  • In a flashback sequence, a woman has stabbed her husband to death. The stabbing happens offscreen, but we see a couple shots of the crime scene, including the man's chest covered in blood.
  • A diary is discovered, where a man has drawn violent photos of ways to kill his wife (very briefly shown).
  • The film opens on a World War One battlefield, with shooting and injuries. Not particularly graphic.
  • A character is shown with numerous healed amputations and also attempting to lobotomize himself. We are told that he used a nail gun, and we see him put the gun to his forehead, pull the trigger, and some blood spatters on the wall behind him (quick scene).
  • A woman is found dead in a chair, apparently smothered. Her mouth and eyes are wide open, and there is dried blood on her chin. This is shown numerous times. Aa man picks up a pillow that has some blood on it. This is presumed to be a murder weapon.
  • A man squeezes his hand around a drinking glass and it shatters. We later see a nurse picking out shards of glass from the open wound.
  • A dead body lays on a table in a morgue.
  • A man leads several people up on top of a building in a chase. There is some pushing and punching. Not violent, but a suspenseful chase.
  • A man collapses and falls off a stage during a concert. We later hear that he died of asphyxiation and was likely murdered.
  • In a flashback, a person murders a woman by clubbing her in the head and smothering her with a pillow, briefly shown.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The many deaths and dead bodies can be disturbing.
  • The film focuses on trying to catch a murderer.
  • The self-lobotomy is pretty disturbing, as are the shots of the man lying in the hospital, prone by his left arm.
  • The multiple shots of the dead woman staring blankly and frighteningly in her chair are somewhat unsettling.
