After scoring big hits as a writer with Grown Ups and its sequel, House Bunny director Fred Wolf has recently returned to directing (and to a previous cult "favourite") with Crackle's Joe Dirt 2. Now he's got his next project lined up. He'll direct Drunk Parents, which may sound like a vehicle for Adam Sandler or David Spade, but will actually mark a 30 Rock reunion for Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek.Wolf wrote the screenplay with Peter Gaulke, with whom he also worked on 2008's Strange Wilderness. The story sees parents Baldwin and Hayek waving goodbye to their daughter as she goes off to college, and immediately going on a drinking binge to celebrate their first time alone for 18 years. This leads them to make some Bad Decisions and get involved in a kidnapping and a case of mistaken identity.“Alec and Salma are both incredibly charismatic, hilarious talents," says producer Robert Ogden Barnum.

Digital entertainment is certainly a fertile industry these days. David Spade and Happy Madison Productions are putting together a sequel to "Joe Dirt" that will air exclusively on Sony's Crackle website and associated platforms.
According to his official statement, Spade is "beyond stoked that 'Joe Dirt' will finally hit the screens again on Crackle. I've been sleeping in this wig for years and it will be nice to wear it in the daytime again." It seems like it's a sequel that's been on his mind for a while, anyway. A couple of months ago, Spade was asked during a Reddit Ama about a possible sequel, and his detailed answer indicated that it was something he'd given some thought to. As per one Reddit user, "Just get Adam Sandler to foot the bill."

One of the worst reviewed movies of the 2013 summer season, Grown Ups 2 still grossed a very healthy $131 million when it ran in theaters.
The attraction no doubt comes from the stars, of which this film is loaded. Adam Sandler (That’s My Boy), Kevin James (Here Comes the Boom), Chris Rock (2 Days in New York), David Spade (TV’s Rules of Engagement), Rob Schneider (The Reef) and Steve Buscemi (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) star alongside Salma Hayek (Savages), Maria Bello (Carjacked) and Maya Rudolph (The Way, Way Back). And added to the cast this time around are Jon Lovitz (A League of Their Own), Shaquille O’Neal and Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner.

"A Case of You," Justin Long's latest comedy, revolves around a hack writer who wins over a barista (Evan Rachel Wood) by stalking her on Facebook and posing as her "perfect man."
It's not exactly "The Big Wedding," which is why the $3 million indie is premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend and not fast-tracked for mall multiplexes. It's a helluva lot bolder than your average studio rom-com.
Long, who stars but also produced and co-wrote the script with brother Christian Long and Keir O'Donnell, told us about his feelings on online dating (and stalking) and which one of his movies is sooooo much better when you're stoned.
So "A Case of You"… The first great cyber-stalker rom-com of our time?
Well I don't know if it's great but … It's funny while we were writing we were like, has no one really done this? I was surprised. We...

Garret Dillahunt (“Raising Hope”), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and Jake Abel (The Host) are set to star in Ghosts Of The Pacific, the true story of three WWII Navy flyers cast adrift on the South Pacific in 1942. The feature will be produced by The American Film Company, which specializes in making movies based on true stories from America’s past.
Producer and American Film Co. president Brian Falk will be making his directorial debut recounting the incredible journey of pilot Harold Dixon (Dillahunt), bombardier Tony Pastula (Felton), and radioman Gene Aldrich (Abel) – virtual strangers assigned to a scouting mission on January 16, 1942. When they are forced to ditch their plane, the men are left with no food, water, or supplies; only a 4×8-foot yellow life raft to keep them afloat on a dangerous ocean.

Up until this week, I hadn't even heard of Nature Calls, an upcoming R-rated comedy starring Patton Oswalt, Johnny Knoxville and Rob Riggle. Normally I would assume it's just another Happy Madison production like Grown Ups or Strange Wilderness, but after seeing that Magnolia picked up the North American rights for their genre arm Magnet Releasing, my interest was suddenly piqued. Now that I've seen the first red band trailer, I think there could actually be something here, although I'm not quite sure it deserves to be counted alongside The Bad News Bears and Meatballs as the press release implies. The story revolves around two brothers named Randy (Oswalt) and Kirk (Knoxville) who don't particularly get along. When Randy's son has a sleepover party, Kirk decides to step in and take all the boys on an impromptu scout trip to remember. Directed by Todd Rohal (The Catechism Cataclysm) and executive produced by David Gordon Green,...

Considered by many to be the worst film of the 1990s, "Frozen Assets" is a comedy about a bank manager who gets a new job running a (wait for it) sperm bank. Considered by many to be the worst films of the 2000s, "Strange Wilderness" was co-written by Peter Gaulke. "The Babymakers" was co-written by Peter Gaulke, and a sperm bank figures heavily in the plot. Draw your own conclusions. To be fair, I wasn't aware of either of these things when I went into "The Babymakers," but after a witless and...

Chicago – The comedy troupe Broken Lizard conquered the film world with their first feature, “Super Troopers” in 2001. Over the next decade, they followed up with the popular “Club Dread” (2004) and “Beerfest” (2008). Broken Lizard performers Kevin Heffernan and Jay Chandrasekhar (who also directs) go domestic in the new film “The Babymakers.”
This latest release features Heffernan and Chandrasekhar in supporting roles, with Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn playing a couple trying to breed, but finding too many obstacles along the way. The solution? Break into a sperm bank where Schneider’s character made some deposits, and withdraw his specimen to save the day. Part heist film, part upper middle class fantasy, the Broken Lizard members add their own quirky sensibility to the mix of this high concept comedy.

Logic would dictate that since Battleship sunk at the box office earlier this summer, any and all future movies based on board games or toys should be put out of their misery. Unfortunately, logic is in short supply in Hollywood these days, because the madness continues. This week Hasbro has announced another new project being set up at Sony Pictures, not based on a board game, but rather a very well-known toy line. That's right... Tonka Trucks are about to get their very own feature film and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will be helping to make it a reality. Here's what Sony Pictures Digital Productions president Bob Osher had to say about the movie: "In its 65 years, Tonka has become more than a toy or a brand; Tonka trucks are a rite of passage for kids all around the world... Time spent with these toys creates memories that...

Despite the disappointing Battleship not exactly living up to its summer blockbuster title, Hollywood continues to develop movies based on brands instead of actual stories. Universal has smartly severed ties with Hasbro, but it looks like Sony is picking up right where they left off. The studio is already developing a movie based on the Candy Land board game with Adam Sandler set to star, and now Sony is teaming with Happy Madison again to bring something a bit more unexpected to life. Deadline reports that a deal has been made to bring childhood favorite Tonka Trucks to the big screen in an animated film of their own. Tonka will be written by frequent Happy Madison collaborator Fred Wolf, whose credits include Joe Dirt, Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, Strange Wilderness, Grown Ups, and the upcoming Grown Ups 2. Ugh. He apparently has a fascinating take on what it means...

First there was Candy Land, and now we have Tonka. To think: People have always said Adam Sandler doesn’t have enough originality in his films.
A press release (via THR) has announced that his Happy Madison Productions will team with Sony Animation and Hasbro for this new film, which Sony’s Bob Osher hopes will be both “multi-generational” and “a family friendly motion picture that brings the Tonka experience to life”; translating that experience into a screenplay will be Fred Wolf, a man best-known for his work on Grown Ups and Strange Wilderness.
And, well, there isn’t really much else to be said. If anything, I find it just a tad interesting to note how Sandler gets further into animation as his career develops — in a few months, for instance, those with sufficient interest can see him take another swing with Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Hotel Transylvania. I don...

In The Babymakers, a bumbling idiot (played by Super Troopers actor Kevin Heffernan) does a Stooge-like swim on a floor covered in semen. That just about sums up what this lazy, downright stupid comedy is about: a steady stream of unfunny sperm jokes that goes nowhere.
The presence of Heffernan, Nat Faxon, and actor-director Jay Chandrasekhar will likely lure fans of Broken Lizard’s brand of raunchy irreverence, but don’t be fooled into suffering through an atrocious script written instead by Strange Wilderness offenders Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. (Yes, “Swallow” for those whose minds are similarly in the gutter.)
“Parks and Recreation” alum Paul Schneider delivers his lines with a smirk of disbelief and earns the most laughs, except they mostly come from his perfect physical timing, not the farcical situations involving his character Tommy. Just a simple look or gesture had the theater busting up. And, as...

Adam Sandler’s own film career is spotty at best, but when you look at the films he produced under his company Happy Madison without starring in, there’s a strong argument to made that Happy Madison ought to stop producing films altogether. Whatever standard Sandler applies to how he chooses films seems to go out the window when he’s only the producer, and the list of cinematic abortions speaks to this: The House Bunny, Strange Wilderness, The Benchwarmers, Grandma’s Boy, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and, most recently, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. Bucky Larson starts with an unfunny premise and then attempts to bleed it dry. The only joke this time around is on the poor sap who picks up the DVD expecting anything beyond profound disappointment and sophomoric jokes that never elicit so much as even a chuckle.

If you woke up this morning and felt you needed to see a trailer frothing over with semen jokes, it’s as if the planets have aligned to tell you that you need more therapy and that the redband trailer for Babymakers has poked its little head out onto the internet. This is the Broken Lizard movie that isn’t a Broken Lizard movie. Instead of the gang from Beerfest trying to impregnate everyone, it stars Olivia Munn and Paul Schneider (Away We Go, Lars and the Real Girl) as a couple who have trouble conceiving. Fortunately, Schneider’s character donated a bunch of great sperm years ago. Unfortunately, it’s all gone, so he has to try to steal some of it back. Good old Kevin “Farva” Heffernan is on board as the sidekick, and Jay Chandrasekhar is directing and playing an Indian mafia killer (complete with genuine Indian accent!). As...

It sounds like another possibly happy reunion for these friends. Variety has reported that Sony Pictures and Happy Madison Production are in negotiations with “Grown Ups” writer Fred Wolf to pen the sequel to the comedy. The original “Grown Ups” starred Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider. It is about five old schoolmates who reunited for a weekend after their basketball coach died. If Sandler decides to revisit “Grown Ups,” then it would be Sandler’s first appearance in any sequel. “Grown Ups” is the highest grossing for Sandler with a worldwide theater gross of $271 million. Wolf has written some material for “Saturday Night Live” shows in the past. He wrote several comedies for Happy Madison Productions, including “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star,” “Strange Wilderness,” and “Joe Dirt.”Source: Variety...

You can never have too many reunions with childhood pals, right?
Adam Sandler and friends might be headed for another middle-aged adventure as Sony Pictures and Happy Madison Productions are in talks with "Grown Ups" scribe Fred Wolf to write a sequel, according to Variety.
"Grown Ups" starred Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider as childhood friends who come together over a Fourth of July weekend to attend the funeral of their youth basketball coach. The film, released in June 2010, is Sandler's highest grossing comedy to date, earning over $227 million in worldwide box office.
If "Grown Ups 2" comes together, it will be Sandler's first-ever sequel. No word on which original cast members would be back for the second reunion, though we're betting it will be all of them.

I had hoped that Jack and Jill had put Adam Sandler’s career on hold for a bit, but I am unfortunately wrong. Variety is reporting that a sequel to last year’s Grown Ups is in the works from Sony Pictures and Happy Madison Prods. Fred Wolf is in talks to write the sequel for Sandler’s highest-grossing film worldwide at $271 million.
This would be the first sequel that Sandler would star in, and at this time no deal is in place. Surprisingly Sandler’s involvement is contingent on the script!! Scripts have never stopped him before, so I bet he will likely be interested in starring. The first film starred Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider “as five friends who reunite over the 4th of July weekend to attend their youth basketball coach's funeral.”
Wolf has been working with Sandler since his days on SNL.

I didn't see Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill, and it wasn't because Sony didn't screen it; because they did. Nope, the reason I didn't see it is because it looked like more of the same Sandler twaddle. A fact that caused me to look back to try and find out the last time I subjected myself to one of Sandler's so-called "comedies". As it turns out, Jack and Jill is the fourth one in a row that I've skipped. Jack and Jill was now part of a growing list with Just Go with It (2011), Grown Ups (2010) and Bedtime Stories (2008). Admittedly, I have heard Just Go with It was actually pretty good (though the film's 20% RottenTomatoes score says otherwise), but I still have no desire to see it. The last Adam Sandler movie I did see -- no, I don't count him voicing the monkey in Zookeeper -- was Funny People...

Director: Jodie Foster
Summary: A depressed toy company CEO with a failed marriage starts to wear a beaver puppet on his hand as a form of therapy, much to the initial bemusement of his family. He soon begins talking only through the character.
Analysis: This time last year, excitement was quietly brewing for "The Beaver". Gibson's drunken tirade a few years before hand wasn't forgotten, but enough time had passed that this looked to be the year of a potential comeback for the actor.
The thriller remake "Edge of Darkness" and this were his first on screen roles in ten years, 'Beaver' is also his "Maverick" co-star Foster's return to the director's chair fifteen years after her last feature. Comedy is a very, very subjective thing. Whereas drama has universal themes that most people can identify with, what someone finds funny, someone else will totally not get. Ask anyone who’s seen Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Some of us think it’s probably one of the funniest things in the history of the world, and some of us have no clue why dead parrots are hilarious.
That said, this spinoff of Forgetting Sarah Marshall is not my kind of funny, largely because it runs in the vein of comedies where adult content is a large part of the movie (which seems to be a lot of them these days...

You're trapped inside a log cabin with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade for 92 minutes. What do you do?
No, it's not the newest trap from Saw 7; it's actually the brand-new trailer for a family (?) farce called All Expenses Paid Movie Star Vacation Grown Ups, which stars the aforementioned men (in addition to ladies like Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph) as a group of old pals who ... take their families to a cabin. So it's sort of like a fart-laden version of The Big Chill meets The Great Outdoors, I'm assuming. The director is the man who gave you You Don't Mess With the Zohan, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and The Benchwarmers. The writers are Mr. Sandler and Fred Wolf, the man who penned Strange Wilderness, Without a Paddle, and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.
In other words, it's your typical Happy Madison production.

Here's the perfect illustration of how critics and mainstream audiences don't always coincide. The site Metacritic has posted a list of the top-reviewed films of the past decade, and according to their data, Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth is No. 1 with a score of 98. Just below it is the Romanian drama 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days (97). It's a great list, packed with terrific movies like The Hurt Locker (No. 5), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (No. 9), No Country for Old Men (No. 23) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (No. 42). But with the exception of a few titles — Pixar (duh) and The Lord of the Rings...

It's a little early for an end-of-the-decade list, but Rotten Tomatoes has unveiled the 100 worst movies of the past ten years. As you might expect, it's quite a doozy. I'll spare you the 90 "best" movies on the list and jump ahead to the worst reviewed films of the decade, ranked in order beginning with the most offensive:
Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (2002)
One Missed Call (2008)
Pinocchio (2002)
King's Ransom (2005)
National Lampoon's Gold Diggers (2004)
Suberbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004)
Strange Wilderness (2008)
3 Strikes (2000)
Redline (2007)
Witless Protection (2008)...

When it comes to reviewing movies, I've always found that one of the most difficult things is not deciding whether a movie is good or bad, but rather, deciding whether a movie is bad or downright terrible. Make no mistake, there are many different levels of bad movies, but does anyone really care to get down to the nitty gritty of debating which ones are slightly better than others? It just seems like a colossal waste of energy. Fortunately, the good folks over at Rotten Tomatoes [1] have recently decided to sift through their vast review archives to give us the definitive Worst of the Worst list [2] for the past 10 years in film. I don't think there are too many surprises here, although the good news is that I think quite a few of these are movies that no one has seen. Maybe now they'll finally find the audience they deserve!

Ya know, it doesn't feel like we're nearing the end of another decade, does it? There's no special millennium celebration or Y2K nonsense to get excited about, so it seems people are just sorta whatever about the past decade as if it wasn't very monumental or iconic, except for the part where our African-American president said something geeky about Star Trek. But I bet all the best end-of-the-decade content is yet to come, and it looks like Rotten Tomatoes is getting things started by presenting us with the worst (reviewed) films of the decade ... which they probably should've waited a couple more months to launch since, ya know, we still haven't seen Avatar (I'm kidding Jim - I'm kidding! Calm down!).
So what's the worst reviewed film of the decade? Well, that honor goes to --drum roll please -- 2002's Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, starring the always enticing duo...

Steve Zahn is an enigma. The dude can act and if you.ve seen Rescue Dawn, you know that. Yet, he continues to take roles that expect nothing from him. If you.ve seen Strange Wilderness, then you know that as well. The flick would.ve satisfied me if all we had seen of it was the trailer (Come on. How hilarious was the laughing shark?). Watching the entire movie really ruined the experience. And it looks as though Steve plans to continue his foray into unchallenging work, as Variety reports that he has signed on to star as the father of the wimpy kid in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, an adaptation of the insanely popular youth fiction series. The movie follows a middle school aged social outcast through a single school year. As you can imagine, it doesn.t go entirely well. You can.t blame the guy...

Penguins attacking John Travolta and Robin Williams? A gorilla rocking Seth Green? Ladies and gentleman, the end of the world is near. These are signs of another disaster heading our way.
The first trailer for Walt Becker's new comedy "Old Dogs" has just debuted online, and to be honest, it kind of looks like a combination of "Wild Hogs" and Strange Wilderness." In other words, it looks quite aweful.
In the film, Williams and Travolta play two business partners whose lives take a sharp turn when Williams' character finds out he has 7-year-old twins. Oh and by the way, that guy's horrible with kids, so you can imagine what happens next...

Following so closely on the heels of Tommy Boy that audiences had little time to breathe, Black Sheep tried to cram another heaping serving of the Chris Farley and David Spade buddy comedy down our throats. The forced second serving however, never comes close to the tasty comedy morsels of its predecessor. Instead we get stale jokes, ineffective slapstick and a plot that’s so horribly half-assed it’s surprising Black Sheep was made as a movie instead of a series of 25 vignettes. What really shears all the comedic fluff off the back of Black Sheep is the poorly used chemistry of Spade and Farley. The formula that produced the ever-classic lines “Shut-up, Richard”, “Niner? Did I hear a niner in there?” and “You’re brain has a thick candy shell” gets left by the wayside in favor of a far-too cohesive friendship based more out of mutual distraction than disgust.

When you see a really horrible and worthless movie you're hesitant to ever watch it again; but when a friend insists that you missed the humor the first time through and to give it a second chance, you humor them. I did that with Strange Wilderness. That friend will never be allowed to recommend movies to me ever again. Ever. If you thought Date Movie was funny, then have we got the movie for you! If not, just pass by Strange Wilderness and never think twice.
Let's just be clear: there will be those who will defend this movie to the death calling it a "stoner film" and claiming it immune to all criticism. Not so. If you thought the last few weeks were slow for new DVD releases, well, think again. There are only two major releases this week, one of which is the Frank Miller bomb The Spirit, and the other being the Oscar-nominated film The Reader (you know, the one that no one saw because they thought it looked boring). To make matters worse, the Blu-ray release of The Reader won't be out for another two weeks. Other discs hitting stores today include the low budget horror film Splinter, the HBO mini-series House of Saddam, and a series of 8 "lost" cult classics from Lionsgate. Yikes. Are there any other noteworthy releases that we missed this week? The Reader [1] (DVD) The Spirit [2] (DVD, Blu-ray [3]) Splinter [4] (DVD, Blu-ray [5]) North Star [6] Dark Matter [7] My Best Friend is a Vampire: The Lost Collection [8] Repossessed: The Lost Collection [9] Hiding Out: The Lost Collection [10] Slaughter High: The Lost Collection...

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Wow, what a horrible week for DVD and Blu-ray releases. Sure, some people will be interested in picking up The Reader after it was nominated for Best Picture, beating out poor ol' Dark Knight. I had it at #10 on my Best of 2008 list and I would love to own a Blu-ray version for reasons I will soon tell you, but I think that is a film I will remain in the minority and I would never recommend anyone pick it up on a blind buy. So what does that leave you with? The Spirit? I know a few people will probably be interested in the Blu-ray edition of Pride and Prejudice and the other half might think about buying 8 Mile on Blu-ray, but all-in-all there is really nothing to suggest here. So, while you can still read my mini-capsules...

One has to wonder why Paramount even bothered to circle back and release .Strange Wilderness. on Blu-ray as the film is a sloppy, low-budget mess with only a few random laughs in it.s corner. It certainly doesn.t scream to be viewed in high-def. A product of Adam Sandler.s Happy Madison productions with a few of Sandler.s second-string getting supporting roles (Peter Dante and Allen Covert), one has to guess that Sandler just finances these film.s out of a loyalty to friends that would be akin to taking a bullet . .Grandma.s Boy. and .The Benchwarmers. spring to mind. .Strange Wilderness. is a particularly lackluster example that seems almost completely derived from a random string of ineffective improv.

Columbia Pictures has hit the jackpot! Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade are negations to star in an untitled comedy to be directed by Happy Gilmore and You Don't Mess With the Zohan helmer Dennis Dugan. Sandler's Happy Madison is developing and is planning to shoot over the upcoming summer. Taking a cue from some of Judd Apatow's comedies that take place over one day of time, the story, written by Sandler and Strange Wilderness writer Fred Wolf, is about five best friends from high school who reunite 30 years later on a Fourth of July weekend. Hilarity ensues. As exciting as this is at first glance, let's not forget that Kevin James and Adam Sandler already teamed up once to bring us I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. And the last big ensemble film that Adam Sandler starred in was The Longest Yard. Not...

David Spade has signed on to star in Fred Wolf's next comedy "Divorced Guys," according to Variety.
In the film written by Wolf, Spade and Kevin P. Farley, a group of divorced friends embark on a road trip to figure out why their marriages failed. Along the road, they will stumble across a series of comic misadventures.
Spade has been spending some time appearing in television's "Rules of Engagement" and "Carpet Bros." He also recently wrapped filmming for Matt Berman and Farley's "Hollywood & Wine."
Wolf most recently directed Anna Faris in "The House Bunny." His credits also include the disastrous "Strange Wilderness."
I know we don't know much about "Divorced" yet, but at this stage, I'm not all too excited about this. A story about a bunch of guys going on a road trip to figure out why they are failures is not exactly new material.

Update: The press conference with the hunters has now been uploaded to YouTube. Check it out below!
You’ve probably heard about this by now, but what the hell; it’s a slow news day anyway, right? Right.
A Georgia policeman and a former corrections officer have submittd the following image to news outlets across the country, telling the world that it is the body of a 7 foot, 7 inch tall apelike creature they believe to be the legendary Bigfoot. Ether these guys actually know what they’re talking about or they’ve pulled a damn fine scam on the news world. Their methods are questionable, at best, not allowing anyone else near the body and refusing to disclose where it's being held right now.
I wasn’t surprised when it was on Fox News (see the video below), but when it cropped up on CNN this morning, well, I had to say something.
