the beginning of Dragon Ball budokai tenkaichi 4
erminahotmail12 March 2024
Then this was the very beginning of the dragon ball saga budokai tenkaichi is this game It was released in 2005 So the purpose of this game which was the first game that had seen hundreds of characters never happened in a Dragon Ball video game and for me it really wasvery incredible then I liked this game but the reason why I didn't give it a much higher face is that I'll tell you what the defects are So the graphics won't be really crap but it's not even beautiful and then the movements that they use when I play They're too slow and thentransformations can't be done But why can't they be done I never understood And then in this game there are only a few things that don't just concern the Dragon Ball Z sagas it only has a few characters from films and GT I hope the rest of the game is good enoughAh I want to mention two things it's very interesting the historical morality that also has alternative stories or those stories that happened if the bad guys won and then the second one and when there's the challenge mode with 100 good characters this one won't be one of the the better it is thoughquite ok to conclude the vote 7.

Another acceptable addition to the stable
Guerauxguex16 December 2005
Call me old fashioned, but I much preferred the button mashing required in DBZ:B1&2 for crushing my opponents. 3 & T are really starting to make the cool attacks more difficult to access than they need to be. In addition to changes to the controls & button mashing requirements, it's visually the same as 2&3. The voice acting is as well done as the previous installments, without much repeated (except for what is unavoidable: ka-me-ha-me-HA!)

Still, with all the characters & all the abilities, it's the perfect (well almost) fan's fantasy vehicle! Fans from all spectrums, Luke warm to die hard, will be thrilled. I don't imagine any of the DBZ games appeal to anyone who isn't already practising the kamehameha when no one is looking though.

The better control of the flight ability is an enjoyable addition. The ranking system is a fun goody too. I suppose that every game has it's pluses & minuses, perks & drawbacks, but this one has the best potential so far as a way to pound your friends into humiliating submission!

A disappointment in comparison to Budokai 3
adamz-511 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
When comparing Tenkaichi with Budokai 3, I have found that in no way does this game stack up to it. I must admit that the flying aspect, destructive environment and large choice of characters are really enjoyable, but eventually this gets old.

First of all in terms of flying, u can either fly towards ur opponent or blast off in a random direction. Either way u cannot hide or do anything that would add more interest to the battle then the charging aspect of budokai 3.

Secondly, the attacks for every character are exactly the same. The kamehameha and spirit bomb are both big balls that are shot towards the other player, the only difference is the damage taken. And the rushing attacks are also identical just the characters move about a little differently depending on the attack. I completely preferred the old style of unique attacks that need to be used a certain way in order to win. And the cinematics for ultimate attacks in Budokai 3 were great, because it was like a little reward after pulling off an ultimate which in some cases was quite difficult. In Tenkaichi however, u only needed to mash 4 buttons together to shoot ur best attack which looks like garbage.

The style of fighting is also very poor. The best way to win a match is to power up and blast ur opponent with ki from a distance. Going up and beating each other is unrewarding because the damage is low and ki blasts are much easier.

Also being able to change into the different levels of super saiyan, fusion or whatever was great in B3 because ur character actually became stronger and was able to pull of better attacks because of this. In tenkaichi you can just choose these forms right off the bat and are no stronger then the original form with attacks once again being very similar to one another. There is no thrill in starting off in super saiyan 4, it was much better when u had to work ur butt off charging ki.

It was also better when u were able to customize the power and type of attacks u had in B3 with capsules. Now there is only some Z Evolution garbage which makes fights less fun because of unfair advantages and having to be concerned with ur characters health power ups, ki power ups and other nonsense.

The controls are also too complex for a game where u just want to kick the crap out of the other guy. Having to deal with all these flying controls just sucked the fun out of this game.

The bottom line is this game is just too repetitive, complicated and could have been made a lot better. If you want a true Dragonball Z Fighting Game Experience, buy Budokai 3 instead.

Pretty Good

While I like this game I was expecting more from the character development, but I guess you cant have everything.

Many people may not like the controls the first couple times you play this (I didn't)but if you keep playing it will be better. I guess the only flaw is the development and the controls, but all in all, a good game. I would have liked another mode too, like a game board one like in Budikai 2 I think it was...Another thing was the moves of some of the characters. It just seemed weird only having 3 attacks, but oh well, the next one.

Score:4/5

Best Dragonball Z Game Ever!
ServantReborn13 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Dragonball Z:Budokai Tenkaichi has to be the best DBZ game to the date. You can fly in huge levels such as the Cell Games Ring and Kami's Lookout. Story mode follows the series pretty well though the cut scenes don't really explain the story that well. Someone who knew nothing of the series would have no idea what was going on in the story. There are over 50 characters from Dragonball, DBZ, and a few Dragonball GT Characters like Baby Vegeta and Super 17. I was disappointed though in the size of the Great Ape; it was smaller than it was supposed to be. The music is awesome; it is recycled from the previous Budokai games. During combat, you're able to launch and/or charge ki blasts at your opponent. The speed and strength on the damage depends on the characters being used. If you need a bit more hurt on your opponent, you can use Z Evolution, which lets you put more health and increase your character's attributes. In order to get characters you need to use Z items. Z items are used to fuse two different earrings, or skills to acquire a new skill or character. All the levels are unlocked in the beginning of the game. The Story ends in a grand World Tournament. Also, there's this mode called "Z Battle Gate" where you fight 100 people to get to the top. You collect dragon balls in Story mode which can be used to buy some Dragonball characters as well as a new feature. Overall, the game rocks. There's a ton of things to do you keep you happy.
