Mariano Torres Negri and Joe "Copi" Streger launched a full out attack on moviegoers on November 2, 2005. "Hombre Mirando al Oeste" exploded onto the big screen with an impressive publicity campaign that had fans, websites, and other media outlets, counting down the days until its Weekend release. "Hombre Mirando al Oeste" approved budget of $145 'pesos' made it the biggest movie budget ever to get green-light on a film about a suburban cowboy killing people in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The approved $145 'pesos' had to be knocked down to $135 after Jean Paul Bondi left "Cinespacio" to run Bondi Studios. Torres and Streger waived their front-end salaries to squeeze in under the new budget, and Enrique Pagella (main role as the cowboy) agreed to work for the low upfront salary of $25, and a share of the profits - if there ended up being any.
With all these background, one would doubt to see "Hombre Mirando al Oeste", yet, the results were, at least, amazing. HMAO is a great western/crime/comedy flick, suitable for children as well as adults. All in all, it's just pure fun. Two thumbs up for one of the best movies of the year!
