CBS is loading its big guns for next season. The network picked up series fronted by such stars as James Woods, Stanley Tucci, Ray Liotta, Virginia Madsen and Joe Pantoliano and backed by such auspices as David Crane, John Wells and Jon Turteltaub. On the drama side, the network ordered Shark, Jericho, Smith, the untitled Peter Ocko project and Waterfront; The Class and the untitled Tom Hertz project made the comedy cut. Midseason entries The Unit and The New Adventures of Old Christine have been picked up for a second season along with the freshman drama Close to Home.

Alicia Silverstone has been tapped as the lead in ABC's comedy pilot Pink Collar, while Alexondra Lee has landed the lead in another comedy pilot, NBC's Alpha Mom. Meanwhile, Alan Dale has joined ABC's one-hour pilot Ugly Betty, Jennifer Coolidge has come on board Fox's comedy pilot If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now, Shawn Hatosy has been tapped as the second lead in Fox's comedy pilot Southern Comfort, Rosemarie DeWitt has landed the female lead opposite Ron Livingston in Fox's drama pilot Primary, Jennifer Aspen has joined CBS' comedy pilot Welcome to the Jungle Gym, Paige Turco has come on board ABC's one-hour pilot Women in Law, Ming-Na and Robert Hoffman round out the cast of Fox's drama pilot Vanished, and newcomer Brian Thomas Smith will play the lead in Fox's comedy pilot The 12th Man. Additionally, Pamela Reed has joined CBS' drama pilot Jericho, Kevin Weisman has been cast in ABC's comedy pilot Mr. Nice Guy, Seth Gabel and Adrian Lester have joined Fox's drama pilot Beyond, and Gabriel Casseus and Alex Fernandez have been added to ABC's drama pilot Sixty Minute Man.

CBS has picked up a comedy pilot toplined by Chris Elliott, while the CW has ordered its first comedy pilot with Nick Lachey in negotiations to star. In other pilot castings, John Terry has joined ABC's drama Secrets of a Small Town, Erin Daniels has landed the title role in Fox's comedy Julie Reno, Bounty Hunter, Tony Curran and William Allen Young have joined ABC's drama Enemies, Jenica Bergere will co-star in Fox's comedy pilot Union Jackass, Ashley Scott has come on board CBS' drama Jericho, Richard Coyle has been added to CBS' drama Ultra, Julius Carry has joined Fox's comedy The 12th Man and Pascale Hutton has been added to another Fox comedy, The Singles Table.

Additionally, Michael Cassidy and Amber Heard have been added to the CW's untitled Kevin Williamson drama pilot, while Nichole Hiltz has joined USA Network's pilot In Plain Sight.

In other pilot casting news, two stars of ABC's comedy Hot Properties, Gail O'Grady and Sofia Vergara, have landed lead roles on the CW's untitled Kevin Williamson drama and ABC's untitled comedy starring Donal Logue, respectively. Additionally, Nick D'Agosto has landed the lead in CBS' drama Orpheus, exec produced by Jon Turteltaub; Mark Feuerstein is set to reprise his starring role in the new version of Peter Ocko's pilot at CBS; and Dave Annable has joined ABC's Brothers & Sisters. Meanwhile, Thomas Carter has come on board CBS' drama pilot Company Town as director-exec producer, while Jon Amiel has been tapped to helm the Fox drama pilot Damages.
