During Andromeda's battle with the Nietzschean fleet, Harper says he will fire on any enemy ship that gets within 80 light seconds of his Rommy. For a sense of scale, 80 light seconds is ~15 million miles or 60 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon.
Doyle mentions a reoccurring dream she used to have. The archaically poetic description of her dream is a very close paraphrase of the 17th century ballad "A Fair Maid All in Her Garden". That song, in turn, was a retelling of Odysseus' reunion with his wife, Penelope, after his 20 year long return home from fallen Troy.
