Storyline

- TriviaThe character of Warren Ferguson (played by Jack Burns) was brought in to replace Barney Fife after Don Knotts left the show. Warren was referred to on occasion as Floyd the barber's nephew. Replacing the classic character of Barney Fife proved to be an impossible task, however. "Warren Ferguson" did not catch on with the viewers, and he was written out of the series after only appearing in 11 episodes. There was no explanation in any episode story line for Warren's departure; he simply stopped appearing.
- GoofsAs Andy, Aunt Bee, and Opie drive away on the bus, Helen is in the front row with others waving goodbye. As the bus drives away (pass the camera) and the crowd reappears, Helen is no longer visible in the crowd of people waving goodbye.

Bogus Hollywood Trip
Helen Crump wrote the book, and logic should have been that Andy takes her to Hollywood, and she should have been the star of the Hollywood episodes. Aunt Bee should have stayed home with dopie Opie, to keep Jack Burns and Goober from destroying Mayberry.
Instead, we get all the typical dumb hick stuff from Aunt Bee, who was very nice but written as just another hillbilly out in Hollywood. Wow, room service! Wow color TV! Wow, cameras and ice cream! Wow fast food! Wow fancy cars! Where was Buddy Ebsen? They should have done a Beverly Hillbillies crossover episode.
It could have been about Andy & Helen having a great time in Tinsel Town. Instead it was Aunt Bee wondering about the marvels of Hollywood, and mostly sitting in her hotel room. It was almost kind of sad, but that is due to writing. It made the best virtues of Aunt Bee seem like handicaps.
This four-part Hollywood trip was also a missed opportunity for Deputy Warren to just disappear.
