Connor's back
Joxerlives25 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The Good; Great final confrontation and like the way that Spike is so possessive of his clipboard. Powerful performance from Wes who grows ever more deranged as he suspects Angel has betrayed them.

The Bad; ?

Best line; Connor; (eying Illyria) "Sorry, always had a thing for older women" Angel; (muttering) "They were supposed to fix that" Connor; "What?" Angel; "Nothing"

Jeez, how did they get away with that? Gunn has his heart ripped out on a daily basis.

Fred; 1 Gunn, 1 possible Wes Groo; 1Cordy Spike; 3-Buffy, Anya, Harmony

Kinky dinky: Spike refers to Illyria as a 'filthy harlot'. Connor fancies her, once again a thing for older women, a teenage boy's lust so powerful even magic can't change it. Illyria wants to keep Spike as her pet.

Captain Subtext; Marcus tells Angel he and Angel won't be having sex on the couch 'anytime soon'. But doesn't rule it out entirely? Angel's 'Do I look 500?' joke perhaps a comment on immortal Angel looking noticeably older. Check out the little look Illyria gives Harmony as she walks out of Wes' office. Hmmmm? Connor wonders if Sajhan wants to kiss him?

Know the face, different character; 7

Parking garages; 10,

Buffy characters on Angel; 17 Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru, The Master, Anne, Willow and Harmony. POSSIBLY The First Evil, Andrew.

What the fanficcers thought; . A few nice fics regarding what would happen is Connor and Dawn hitched up. What would the children of the son of 2 vampires and The Key be like?

Questions and observations; Never liked Connor but much like Riley in 'As You Were' he's much easier to accept in small doses. Anne Rice bashed. Good! Was it Cyrus Vail that made Sajhan incorporeal? What courage Gunn shows although you'd have liked to have heard what Marcus was going to offer him? You forget that Sajhan never met adult Connor so has no idea who he is. Does everyone now remember about Connor or just Illyria, Connor and Wes?

Marks out of 10; 8/10 here begins the rehabilitation of Connor for me frankly

The Return of Connor
Samuel-Shovel3 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "Origins" a young man who is hit by a car and walks away without a scratch comes to Wolfram & Hart for help figuring out what he is. It's Connor. Angel declines to help, causing Wes to be suspicious. Angel is forced into action when demon's attack Connor and his new family. Wes, Lorne, and Illyria investigate why Angel is acting strangely as Connor and Angel go attempt to kill Sahjhan. The demon that created everyone's new memories is blackmailing Angel into doing it to keep up the illusion.

Wes figures out Angel changed reality and destroys the cube holding everyone's original memories. Connor kills Sahjhan and decides to supress his old memories and live his new life with his family.

I figured we'd see Connor back at some point and here he is. We now get a clearer picture as to why Sahjhan was always trying to kill Angel. It was his son that was prophesized to kill him. I guess he thought killing Angel would prevent this somehow?

How do these new memories work for Connor's adopted parents? Do they now remember the original times when Connor was never a part of their lives? It's clear that Connor remembers by the hints he drops to Angel as he leaves. Everyone else remembers. Why not his new family?

That sort of bugs me and maybe that's a plot point in the upcoming episodes and I'm jumping the gun here? Speaking of Gunn, he seems to be having a fine time down in that basement. No more deals with the devil for him! The new liason comes to offer him freedom at a price which he quickly declines.

Illyria and Fred seem to be blending or something. That's the only reason I could see as to why Illyria is fawning over Wes so protectively. I know he's kind of her anchor to this world but it almost feels as if she's his bodyguard for some reason. Anyways, drunk Wes is a whole other stage to his character arch. He's had a bunch of ups and downs. We'll see if he ends the series on a high note.

That was awesome
limetalhead7 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
For the first time I actually liked seeing Connor. His reaction to Angel beating the hell out of those two demons who attacked his parents could be interpreted in two ways. First, it was just that of a normal late adolescent boy who finds stuff like that cool. Second, it gave off a vibe that no matter how much Connor's memories had changed, somehow he still knew something subconsciously about who he really is. Finding out that Cyvus Vail had set this scenario up in order to bring Connor to Angel made total sense once he mentioned Sahjhan and the prophecy. You almost got the feeling that somehow the 'real' Connor would reappear. The most surprising thing though was the slowly growing connection between Wesley & Illryia. The fact that she helped to rouse Wesley's suspicions even more by saying that Fred's memories had been changed in certain areas. When she hit Angel and said "He doesn't follow you any longer", almost as if she respected Wesley in some way. I got what I was waiting for though when Wes broke the box with the original memories in it. After seeing Connor brought back and kill Sahjhan, I thought all hell was going to break loose. When it was over and he was still acting like the 'fictional' Connor, I was thankful that they wouldn't draw this out. The ending line of "You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father" pretty much said that even Connor knew the truth, he still wanted and preferred the fictional life.

You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father
SleepTight6664 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father - One of the strongest and most significant episodes of the season, if not the entire series. One of the main reasons I loved it was that it linked to the Season 3 arc of 'The father will kill the son', after basically a season that had tried to ignore the first Four. Another obvious reason for me was 'Connor', he had always been a favorite of mine so I was great to see him back on the show, even though it was a completely different character. 'Wesley's character was also very intriguing, he's fantastic chemistry with 'Illyria' and then breaking the glass which returned the lost memories. The Connor/Sahjhan fight scene was also excellent, mixed humor with kick-ass violence! I'm also quite a big fan of 'Cyvus', he managed to be creepy, interesting and still slightly humorous, I wish we would have seen more of him. 'Origin' was a very necessary episode that finally dealt with the 'Connor'-issue I waited for almost a season and once again brought the greatness in 'Angel's character. ILLYRIA: I'd like to keep Spike as my pet. ANGEL: Connor, this is Spike and Illyria. Guys, this is Connor. CONNOR: Hi. Um...I like your outfit. ILLYRIA: Your body warms. This one is lusting after me. CONNOR: Oh... no, I.. I.. It's just that.. it's the outfit. I guess I've always had a thing for older women. ANGEL: They were supposed to fix that... (10 out of 10)

"Borrowed" ideas from Dark Angel
teknobabble-126 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I'm fully an Angel fan, but I have to say that this thing with Connor being given a new life was obviously "borrowed" from a Dark Angel ep entitled "Some Assembly Required," in which Max's 'brother' has his memory wiped and rather than helping him get it back she sets him up with a new life complete with a fake past.

She even uses a line at the end almost identical to Connor's in the "Origin" episode.

Max (Dark Angel, Season 2, "Some Assembly Required"): "But sometimes you have to make sacrifices to protect the ones you love. I learned that from my brother."

Connor (Angel, Season 5, "Origin"): "You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father."
