On a humorous note, when Barnaby realizes the drug sniffing dog shares his name, he introduces himself to the handler simply as "Jones". This is the only time in the entire series he would not introduce himself by his entire name.
The attempted "murder on the docks via crane dropping cargo on a man" scene was first done exactly a month prior, in The Manhunters (1973).
