Better Outing For the Joker
DKosty1233 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The Joker does more than steal a golf hole and a hair pin. This outing leaves the Joker goes to school in the dust, and on the golf course for sure. This part 1 has the start of the craziest crime spree ever.

In fact, one of the greater sight effects gags of the series shows up on this one, as an entire joker van disappears in front of the astonished caped crusaders.

The next part even gets better, but first we have to pay homage to the Jokers third installment as the effects here are more sophisticated than the crazy ejector that throws Joker over the prison wall in the first episode he is in.

Yes, stay tuned bat fans, same bat time, same bat channel.

The worst is yet to come.

Stolen a hole from a golf green!
kevinolzak21 May 2016
"The Joker Trumps an Ace" is another classic Joker jest from the wonderful first season, though it would be seven months before Cesar Romero's season two return, following his feature film appearance. A disguised Joker invades a fur salon to have his henchmen fire away at the frightened crowd, only to steal a single hairpin off the head of Mrs. Belmont (Angela Greene), who complains about her stuck up hair: "but of course, I said this is a stick up!" Commissioner Gordon is next seen uttering one of the single best lines from any episode: "first we get a report that he's stolen a hole from a golf green!" The Joker's jolly crimes seem harmless on the surface but that's only the beginning, as he soon kidnaps a golfing Maharajah of Nimpa (Dan Seymour), then proceeds to trap the Dynamic Duo in a drowning death that does not involve water. One can only marvel at how much fun the outgoing Romero is having with every performance. This marked the series debut of Byron Keith as Gotham City's Mayor Linseed, a play on then-New York mayor John Lindsay (still unnamed in this episode), appearing in nine more entries through the final season.

HOW DO YOU STEAL A GOLF COURSE HOLE??
tcchelsey24 July 2022
A really wacky episode, written by the team of Francis and Marian Cockrell, who also wrote for Alfred Hitchcock's tv series. Cesar Romero is even more outrageous as the joking Joker, playing another high stakes game of cat and mouse with Batman and Robin.

The Joker goes on a robbing spree, but more for kicks, stealing a hairpin(?) from a society matron at a swank fur salon. His real target is a visiting maharaja, played for laughs by none other than towering Dan Seymour. Seymour was great in many over the top roles, often as a bad guy himself. The end game is very clever as the Joker traps the Dynamic Duo in a pool --but to drown in poison gas! OMG.

Model and comedienne Jane Wald plays the Joker's pretty sidekick Jill. A few years earlier, Jane was actually discovered by a producer while having lunch at 20th Century Fox. More of an incredible footnote was her being asked on several occasions to pose for PLAYBOY magazine, but refusing every single time. That said, there are some vintage photos of Jane in a bikini floating about, so all is not lost!

Look for versatile Tol Avery (the tall guy with the deep voice) always as a distinguished businessman and Norman Alden as a henchman, and he played lots of bad guys in his career. Be sure to check out the background Warner Brothers studio lot, where this was partly filmed, particularly city hall. If you take the WB tour, BATMAN is always fondly mentioned. A real cult trip. SEASON 1, EPISODE 25 remastered dvd box set.
