First appearance by Byron Keith as Mayor Linseed, whose name spoofed that of then Mayor John Lindsay of New York City.
Based on a 1949 comic book story published in Batman issue number 53, entitled "A Hairpin, A Hacksaw, A Hoe, and a Hole in the Ground!"
Dan Seymour, who plays The Maharajah (credited as Dan Seymoure), was born Daniel Seymour Katz. He shares the same surname as the abandoned refinery that The Joker and his henchmen are using as a hideout, "Katz, Katz and Katz."
Catherine Ferrar, who was the "Gleeps!" girl in Hi Diddle Riddle (1966) returns here in a cameo, exclaiming "Crime is certainly rampant these days!" after she sees the Dynamic Duo.
In the scene before the opening credits and after Adam West hangs up the red phone shortly after Commissioner Gordon tells him it's the Joker again. Adam West's line was "To the bat poles" but he says, "To the Bat Mob .. Poles!" He probably was thinking about another line coming up where he tells Robin, "Quick, to the Bat Mobile!"
