  Batman : This isn't a time for games. Now, untie me.

  Robin : It's no game. You're out of control.

  Batman : You don't know what you're talking about.

  Robin : That gas has affected you more than you think.

  Batman : I told you I can handle it.

  Robin : You can't! You're not even afraid to kill. I'll be back for you as soon as I can.

  Batman : Robin, It's hard for me to say this, but you did the right thing. I was out of control, and you've made me see that.

  Bruce Wayne (Disguised) : Easy, easy. I was just looking for some loose cash. I wasn't trying to move in on your operation. Whatever it is.

  The Scarecrow : A thief. I thought as much.

  [Raises gun] 

  Bruce Wayne (Disguised) : Hey, be cool!

  [Scarecrow shoots the gun, hitting Bruce with fearless gas] 

  The Scarecrow : Scared you, didn't I?

• Batman : Where's the gas?

  Guru : Go ahead. Throw me in jail. It won't do you any good.

  Batman : Who said anything about jail?

  [Batman throws the Guru out the window, rope tied around his legs, leaving his dangling outside the building] 

  Robin : Batman!

  Batman : Quiet.

  Guru : [Whimperng]  Help!

  Batman : You didn't answer my question.

  Guru : I-I can't! He'll kill me!

  Batman : Death is death. Does it matter who administers it?

  Robin : You're not really gonna - ?

  Guru : No. No! No!

  Batman : My question, remember?

  Guru : He-he took the gas down to the 72nd Street subway station.

  Batman : Why?

  Guru : He's gonna fill the tunnels with it.

  Batman : Just in time for rush hour.

• Robin : Um, last night, when I tied you up, I didn't mean...

  Batman : Don't apologize. You were right.

  Robin : Yeah, but... it was kind of scary.

  Batman : A little fear is a good thing.

• Robin : This gas that takes away your fear, by any chance, did you breathe it?

  Batman : Yes, but I can handle it.

  Robin : [thrown around as the Batplane banks]  Oh, yeah?

• Seymour Grey : You can't put me off any longer, Wayne! I've got ideas, ideas that are going to revolutionize cost accounting!

  Bruce Wayne : Mr. Grey, I presume.

  Seymour Grey : Yeah, that's me. "Mousy" Seymour Grey, been sitting at the same desk for 18 years, afraid to say anything, afraid of losing my job.

  Sarah : Mr. Wayne, I'm so sorry. I've called security.

  Bruce Wayne : It's all right, Sarah. Mr. Grey, now's not really the time.

  Seymour Grey : Oh, gonna try to intimidate me, huh? Well, if you think I'm just gonna crawl back to my desk, you're wrong, 'cause I QUIT!

  [storming out, he turns back] 

  Seymour Grey : And one more thing.

  Sarah : [recoiling as he kisses her]  Mr. Grey!

  Seymour Grey : [being led out by security]  I'm in the phone book, baby.

• Bruce Wayne : Playing hooky?

  Tim Drake : It's summer vacation. How do you forget that?

  [seeing Bruce's stoic stare] 

  Tim Drake : Never mind. I forgot who I was talking to.

• Robin : You gonna tell me what's going on?

  Batman : It's the Scarecrow. He's developed a gas that takes away people's fear.

  Robin : No more fear? Cool!

  Batman : The man on the ledge last night, the one in my office... imagine a whole city like that.

  Robin : I see your point.

• Robin : [seeing Batman choking Scarecrow]  You can't!

  Batman : [knocking him away]  Watch me.

  [spotting the antidote, Robin sprays it in his face; letting Scarecrow go, Batman goes to the train controls] 

  Batman : I can't stop it. You're gonna have to jump.

  Robin : What about Scarecrow?

  Batman : I'll take care of him.

  [Robin is alarmed] 

  Batman : I'll get him off the train.
