- Roger Grette: Can I get you a cup of coffee, or something?
- Jaime Sommers: Oh yeah, I'd love some. Would you mind putting just a...
- Roger Grette: [holds up his hand] Teaspoon of cocoa in it?
- Jaime Sommers: Yeah. You remembered.
- Roger Grette: [conversing on CB] Look my girl is out there in the middle of it. Willy, I got to go get her.
- Willy Tyler: You'll do more to help her where you are.
- Roger Grette: Look I don't see it that way... I lost her one time, and I'm not about to lose her again.
- Dr. Rudy Wells: [Max is licking Jaime's face] Max, I'm sure your licks are beneficial, but the oxygen will do her more good.
- Jaime Sommers: Rudy, what's gonna happen to Max now, huh?
- Dr. Rudy Wells: Well, I guess I'll become a dog shrink, and I'll try to help Max overcome his fear of fire.
- Jaime Sommers: Not in the lab, huh?
- Dr. Rudy Wells: Not in the lab.
- Roger Grette: But where will you keep him? After he's gotten over it?
- Oscar Goldman: We're not sure. We might give him to Jaime.
- Roger Grette: Or a certain forest ranger's cabin?
- Jaime Sommers: [smiles] That's a good idea. Except I get visiting privileges, you know.
- Roger Grette: That's the idea.
- Oscar Goldman: We'll consider it. But the final decision is up to Max. Isn't that right, Max?
- Willy Tyler: [having helped administer first-aid to Jaime, and having also just helped load the injured trio into the ambulance a moment before, and so he's had a chance first-hand to observe Jaime "up close and personal" and see what a lovely and kindly gentle person she is] Oh, uh, Rog? She's worth it.
- Roger Grette: Yeah, I know.
- Roger Grette: Everything seems to be okay.
- [pulls on the switch]
- Roger Grette: Oh, I spoke too soon. The deadman's stuck.
- Jaime Sommers: That's an encouraging name. What is it?
- Roger Grette: You have to hold it back while the train's going, or it comes to a stop. It was in case...
- Jaime Sommers: In case the engineer turned into a dead man?
- Roger Grette: That is the strongest dog I've ever seen. Will you look at that? He pulled the screws out of the frame.
- Jaime Sommers: Max was staring at that candle, Roger. It was the flame.
- Roger Grette: Hmm?
- Jaime Sommers: Jim was building a fire. It's fire. That's what it is. That's what it's been all this time.
- Roger Grette: I don't understand.
- Jaime Sommers: Max was caught in a lab fire when he was a little puppy. And that's what's making him so crazy all the time. It's his fear of fire. I mean, you saw the flames from the steaks made him run.
- Roger Grette: And is he what's been making you run?
- Jaime Sommers: What?
- Roger Grette: I know about the APB. They called. They said that Max was dangerous and that if he attacked, to shoot to kill.
- Jaime Sommers: "Shoot to kill"? Oh, I don't believe it. What's the matter with them? What about you? Why didn't you turn us in? Why didn't you say something? You could've...
- Roger Grette: Wait a minute! Now wait a minute! I'm trying to help you. Honest.
