When this episode was shown, it was billed as a special episode, and there were rumours that it was the first episode of an eighth series which was cancelled after Michael Elphick was offered the part of Harry Salter in the BBC1 series Harry (1993) about a ruthless owner of a news-gathering agency in Darlington. However, given that no mention is made in this episode either of the growing romance between Ken and Alex, or the (presumed) engagement of Harry and Mary O'Haren, both of which featured extensively in the previous episode, Shot in the Dark (1992), this is almost certainly an earlier episode of Series 7 which was postponed for three years. Newspaper articles at the time of transmission say that the episode was not completed in time for transmission with the rest of Series 7 and was postponed until there was an available slot for ITV to show it.
A longer version of the title song "Hi Ho Silver", with an additional verse that is not normally heard, played over the end-credits.
