Vincent Price

Warning: Spoilers
Vincent Price guest stars in this three-part Hawaii special of The Brady Bunch. Definitely worth watching for early 70s Hawaii and seeing the cast soak up the sun, and the characters falling afoul of a tiki that is causing havoc amongst the family. I miss The Brady Bunch and I enjoyed watching The Brady Brides.

Vincent Price Guest Stars In Part 3
Jimmy_the_Gent48 August 2020
The boys are captured by a loony archaeologist Prof Whitehead in the tiki cave.

Price is probably the biggest star ever to guest on the show, he was still a star in film with some recent hits like "The Abominable Dr Phibes" and "Theater Of Blood". Whitehead thinks the boys are going to steal the artifacts he found and ties them up. Mike and Carol find out where they are and rescue them. Mike is forgiving to Whitehead and says he will help him with credit for his archaeological finds. They all end up at a luau for the finale.

THE MAD DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU NOW!!!
tcchelsey16 October 2023
This is the GRANDE FINALE of the classic three episode trip to Hawaii, and its a t-riffic. If you are a true BRADY BUNCH fan you know this is the absolute best of 'em all.

Greg, Peter and Bobby are trapped by eccentric Dr. Whitehead (Vincent Price at his hammiest), believing they're going to steal his archaeological find --just like the dirty rat who stole his last one?

Worries, worries! Price is so over the top here, no shame. Actually, Sherwood Shwartz had wanted him to guest star on GILLIGANS ISLAND about 10 years earlier. Finally, Price had an opening and he appeared in two episodes, which are now camp tv classics.

Not enough could be said about this really episodic Hawaiian trip; the sets, the scenery and the offbeat story put it way over the top. There is also some neat dialogue and one liners thrown in for good fun. And no matter how devious he was, you kind of feel sorry for the old professor who confesses his sad story to Mike and Carol.

Great Hawaiin dance scene (with fire!) near the end, and with guest star Leon Lontoc as the mayor's speaker. Leon was a popular tv actor, a regular on BURKES LAW in the 60s, and on many cops shows, such as HAWAIIN EYE and MANNIX.

In real life, he was a barber by trade and would hang a sign in his window that read "gone to act" whenever he was hired to appear on tv. You can tell he was having a blast here along with Vincent Price. I'll bet Price signed lots of autographs for everybody.

Do NOT miss this one especially. From SEASON 4 EPISODE 3 remastered dvd box set.

The Hawaii Bunch

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is without a doubt the darkest, most sinister and most disturbing episode of the entire series. But it's still a lot of fun and stands in contrast to the previous two episodes. A crazy old cook kidnaps the three boys and ties them up in a cave. Is he a child molester? Is he going to kill them? Is he going to eat them alive? What in the world is going on???

+++SPOILERS+++

Well, we find out what's going on. He's an archeologist and he's made a very important find, but he's afraid that his find will be stolen and that somebody else will get the credit. And he thinks the Brady boys are spying on him. Actually, they were just looking to return the idol that Bobby had found and that seemed to bring them bad luck.

Meanwhile, back at the hotel, everybody is wondering where the boys are. They start a search and ask around and work their way to the secret caves where the boys are. They find them, rescue them, and then tell the old man that he has a lot of explaining to do. Yeah.....no kidding!!! Kidnapping is a felony in all 50 states, old man. And everybody hates kidnappers, even criminals.

So, the old crazy guy tells his story and to this viewer's amazement Mr. Brady immediately forgives him!! And even decides to help him!! Only on TV, folks.

This episode wraps up the Hawaii Brady Bunch trilogy and is a lot of fun to watch. I've seen it multiple times over the years. The whole trilogy is a "10" for sure. Great fun and wonderful nostalgia for folks like me.
