The setting for this show can be precisely dated by a Senator named Johnson (uncredited actor) who has one scene in a Congressional watering hole denouncing the Grant administration in general. The actor is made up to look like (and undoubtedly plays) former President Andrew Johnson, who was elected to the Senate in January 1875, served during a special session in late March-early April, and then went home to await the beginning of the regular session. (Johnson died of a stroke that July, before the regular session convened.) Johnson and Grant were the worst of enemies over their interpretations of Reconstruction policy, which got Johnson impeached (his election to the Senate was a tremendous triumph for him personally), although their paths did not cross during Johnson's brief Senatorial term.
Chuck Connors, who portrays Jason MCord, and Kamala Devi, who portrays Laurette Ashley, were married in real life from April 10, 1963 to February 9, 1972.
