Storyline

- TriviaWhen Giles is at the airport ready to catch his plane for England, Tara gives him (as a goodbye gift) a little plastic finger monster which she puts on her finger and says "Grrr... argh". This is the same monster and sound that is made at the end, just after the credits, by the production company mascot Mutant Enemy.
- GoofsThe Scooby gang is trying to convince the town that Buffy is still alive by using the Buffybot. They assume if people find out that Buffy is dead, Dawn will be taken away. However, in the season 5 finale, a giant tombstone with Buffy's name on it was shown in the cemetery. The shot of the tombstone is also shown during the 'Previously on Buffy' montage. Having a giant tombstone erected is not conducive to pretending Buffy is alive.
- Quotes
Xander Harris: Excuse me? Who made you the boss of the group?
Anya: You did.
Tara Maclay: You said Willow should be boss.
Anya: And then you said, "let's vote," and it was unanimous.
Tara Maclay: And then you made her this little plaque that said, "Boss of Us," and you put little sparkles on it and...
Xander Harris: Valid points, all. But we... I mean... We were just talking then.
- Alternate versionsThis episode had several scenes trimmed from it in order for it to be shown in the UK at 8pm by Sky One. The scene were Willow stabs a deer and takes its blood stopped at the point where she picked up the knife. It then cut to the next scene rather quickly. The overall destruction of the BuffyBot was also trimmed by several seconds.

Then Whedon found a new home and the show's darkest but most meaningful season begins with "Bargaining." "Bargaining 1 & 2" are not the show's best episodes. But they set up exquisitely the season's Big Bad by providing a reason for Buffy to wonder "Is this Hell?"
Season 6 is the show's most metaphysical. BtVS was always filled with symbols and metaphors, but with Buffy's asking of Dawn the nature of their existence, Whedon and Co. are taking viewers into the meaning of the story. In Season 4's finale, "Restless," Xander visits the "Heart of Darkness." "Restless" is well regarded for its prophetic elements and with "Bargaining" the journey prophesied begins.
Its a sad, brutal and pointedly banal ride. At season's end the world will be saved by the most prosaic object imaginable: A yellow crayon. But Buffy's question will remain: "Is this Hell?"
