- TriviaIn the DVD commentary, writer Drew Goddard claims that the Sjornjost scenes were written in Swedish but he intended for the lines to be dubbed badly in English. Thus, Emma Caulfield Ford and Abraham Benrubi were told that they did not need to memorize the Swedish that carefully because it would not be heard. Both actors memorized all of the alleged Swedish words phonetically, and the show creators were so pleased with their performances that they decided to subtitle the scenes rather than dub them.
- GoofsThe flashback where Anya and Halfrek are sitting at a banquet table among dead men with a backdrop of building on fire is captioned "St. Petersburg, 1905". Also, Anya says that Russia was ready to explode, and they only gave it a push, after which Halfrek mentions that the mob was going to loot the Winter Palace. While the St. Peterburg's Bloody Sunday did take place in 1905, it was a shooting of peaceful protesters by the army and it was over relatively quickly. The events mentioned in the dialogue are from the February Revolution of 1917.

Oh my! What an episode..
This episode is marvelous television writing. One of the last episodes of the show that we will say "what an episode" after watching i. Anya is pretty much my favorite character apart from Buffy. I really feel the struggle of being without a self she is going through. We see that since her human life Anya didn't know who she was, what was her personality. She practically wasn't a human when she actually was one. A deep subject, being told through a demon. But it's all thanks to Emma Caulfield's brilliant acting. She wowed the viewers once again after her breathtaking performance in "The Body".
Really few can be said when an episode's writing is top notch. Sorry to see this is the only Anya-centric episode, since she's a very interesting character played by a very talented actress. I get very emotional during the last scene with Xander and Anya. One of the show's top episodes. Near perfection.
