Quotes
-
J.R. Ewing : [enters living room] Well, looky, everybody lined up to watch television?
Miss Ellie Ewing : Why? Is there something we should watch?
J.R. Ewing : There sure is.
Sue Ellen Ewing : J.R. was interviewed by the news.
Pamela Ewing : Well, I can miss that.
J.R. Ewing : Is Bobby not home yet?
Miss Ellie Ewing : He's still at the office.
J.R. Ewing : Well, why don't you call him, Pam? He wouldn't wanna miss all the warm and wonderful things I said about him.
Pamela Ewing : Goodnight, Miss Ellie.
[gets up]
Miss Ellie Ewing : Goodnight, Pam.
[Pamela leaves]
Sue Ellen Ewing : Goodnight.
J.R. Ewing : Can I freshen up your drink, Mama?
Miss Ellie Ewing : No, thank you. Uh, I'm going to bed.
Sue Ellen Ewing : You're not gonna watch the show?
Miss Ellie Ewing : No, I, uh... I don't care... to watch my two sons attack each other in public.
[leaves]
J.R. Ewing : [smirks] Attack? I haven't even loaded my guns yet.
[chuckles]
J.R. Ewing : Okay, let's watch this thing.
-
Bobby Ewing : [Pam switches on the light as he enters the bedroom] Oh, honey, it's late. I thought you were asleep.
[as she gets up:]
Bobby Ewing : Wait till I tell you what happened. I had the best stroke of luck you can imagine. I think I found a way to force the cartel into opening up the Wellington well.
Pamela Ewing : [unimpressed] That's wonderful. Now you can lose a few more friends.
Bobby Ewing : Well, honey, J.R.'s way ahead. I have to catch up.
Pamela Ewing : Bobby, by the time you catch up to J.R., you may lose your family and all the friends you ever had.
Bobby Ewing : Pamela, we've been through this all before. And you know the kind of race I'm in. I'm doing what I think is right.
Pamela Ewing : I'm very much afraid of what it's doing to you.
-
Bobby Ewing : [after the phone call from Mark Graison] Honey, what was that all about?
Pamela Ewing : Well, his family has a lawyer on retainer that Miss Ellie wants to use.
Bobby Ewing : What does that have to do with you?
Pamela Ewing : I'm helping Miss Ellie convince him to loan her the lawyer's services.
Bobby Ewing : [angrily] I don't believe it. Pamela, you may want this fight between J.R. and me to be over... but you're on the wrong side of the war.
Pamela Ewing : I don't think so.
Bobby Ewing : [nods] I'm going downstairs to have a drink.
[leaves]
-
Mark Graison : [clearly Pamela has found favor in his eyes] You look very lovely this morning.
Pamela Ewing : Thank you. Last night, you said there was a question.
Mark Graison : Well, I just thought before I release Brooks Oliver to work for Miss Ellie, I... ought to know a little about what he's gonna get into. How the family feels, for example.
Pamela Ewing : Well, my husband and his brother are against it, that's for sure.
Mark Graison : What about you?
Pamela Ewing : I think Miss Ellie should do what she needs to do.
Mark Graison : Even if it's against what your husband wants?
Pamela Ewing : In this case, yes.
Mark Graison : Well, it sounds like you want Miss Ellie to break the will almost more than she does.
Pamela Ewing : We both want to end this rivalry for Ewing Oil.
Mark Graison : [smiles] All right, I'll give you Brooks Oliver.
Pamela Ewing : [smiles] Well, that was easy. I must be very persuasive.
[he smiles]
Pamela Ewing : Either that, or you made up your mind before this morning.
Mark Graison : Right.
Pamela Ewing : Then why are we having breakfast?
Mark Graison : Because you knocked me out the other day when we met, and I wanted to see you alone.
Pamela Ewing : Mr. Graison, I'm a married woman.
Mark Graison : I know that.
Pamela Ewing : And I'm not very modern when it comes to playing around.
Mark Graison : That is a very attractive quality.
Pamela Ewing : Well, I'm glad you appreciate it. It's a quality I intend to keep.
Mark Graison : You know, marriages are funny. Ships... in a storm. Some waves they survive. Others break them apart.
Pamela Ewing : Well, I have a very strong marriage. And we've survived lots of storms.
Mark Graison : The battle over Ewing Oil may strain it more than you think. If you ever need a lifeboat...
Pamela Ewing : I don't think I ever will.
[he smiles]
Pamela Ewing : Thank you.
[gets up]
Mark Graison : Have Miss Ellie give me a call about Brooks.
Pamela Ewing : I'd appreciate it if you'd do that yourself. And also, that you not mention that we... had breakfast together.
Mark Graison : [finger in front of his mouth] Shh.
Pamela Ewing : Thank you again.
[shakes his hand, walks away]
