The Chickasaw hunting party that captures Davy and George ties their hands behind their backs. Moments later, their hands are tied in front of them to allow them to ride horses.
When Mike Fink uses his new "popgun" to shoot at Davy and George's canoe, mistaking them for members of the attacking war party, the shot puts a hole through the canoe and causes it to capsize. Moments later, George and Davy are floating among shattered fragments of wood as though the entire canoe splintered apart.
When the interior of the Gully Whomper is flooding and the interior of the boat is flooding, he is being sprayed with water but otherwise the boat is fairly dry. Then in the next shot, he is suddenly submerged up to his shoulders in water.
When the Gully Womper is sinking, it appears normal in the exterior shots. Then one of Mike's men goes into the interior to get powder and finds it flooding and tells Mike that they're sinking. Suddenly, in the next exterior shot, the boat has dropped several feet and is now nearly sunk.
Davy and George jump off the sinking Gully Whomper and wade through the river to chase after the pirate leaders, yet are completely dry almost immediately after exiting the water.
After being given a deadline to stop the pirates of the next full moon, Davy says that it won't take long for the new moon to become full. The next time the moon is seen, it is a waning crescent, which comes after a full moon and before a new moon. If the moon was new when Davy said it was, they would have already missed the full moon deadline.
When George tells Davy that the moon was "half full last night," Davy says they've "still got a few days" before their deadline. Their deadline was the next full moon. If the moon was "half full" the previous night, presumable meaning a first quarter moon, they'd have about a week before the full moon, not just a few days.
When the plug covering the hole Colonel Plug drilled into the side of the boat is pulled and the boat begins flooding it is nighttime. Later on, when it is daylight, the water level in the boat has not risen.
Davy pours molasses on the deck of the boat so that the invaders will slip on it. Molasses is sticky, not slippery. If anything, pouring molasses would give them better traction on the wet deck.
After Davy ignites the trail of gunpowder, it burns slowly and leads them to Sam Mason's hiding spot. If ignited in such a manner, gunpowder burns very quickly. The whole trail would go up in a matter of seconds.
Location shooting of the river on real boats was supplemented with studio shooting featuring a projected backdrop. The change between the two types of shots is very noticeable, as the lighting and film quality are completely different.
When Davy and George bend over to drink from the watering hole, they repeatedly dip their hands in the water and bring it towards their faces but do not actually bring it anywhere near their lips.
When Davy and George steal a canoe to meet back up with Mike Fink's boat and are chased by a war party, there is very obvious day-for-night shooting.
When Colonel Plug starts singing to try to reveal Mike Fink and Davy Crockett's real identities to the pirates, George puts his hand over Plug's mouth quickly. The sound of the singing continues uninterrupted for several seconds before suddenly becoming muffled.
The interior set for the Gully Whomper is flooded so badly that Colonel Plug is submerged up to his shoulders in water, yet the exterior shows the boat has not begun to sink. If the interior were flooding, the boat would be getting deeper into the water.
When Davy and George first go ashore, Davy notices a trail in the woods that he believes will lead them to a Chickasaw tribe. He and George start to follow it and then only seconds later more than half a dozen Chickasaw warriors rise up out of the bushes just a couple of feet from where Davy had spotted the trail on the ground. There is no way they would not have been seen there, especially by a skilled tracker like Davy Crockett.
When Davy and George are captured by the Chickasaw hunting party, they are put on horseback to be led back to the Chickasaw camp. There are exactly enough horses for Davy, George, and all the Chickasaw hunters. This would only happen if the Chickasaw had somehow known they'd be capturing two, and only two, prisoners ahead of time.
When the Chickasaw hunting party is capturing George and Davy, George asks if they don't know that's Davy Crockett they're trying to hogtie. Hogtying involves tying all four limbs together to render the prey, be it human or animal, immobile. The Chickasaw only tie Davy and George's hands together but leave their legs free to walk back to their camp.
George says "that moon was half full last night" when the moon was seen to be a waning crescent.
When fleeing the river brawl, Sam Mason and the Harpe brothers leave their guns behind on the shore. Even when they know they are being chased, they do not arm themselves after making it back to their hideout and must confront Davy and George using only makeshift handheld weapons.
