Four actors in the remake reprised their roles from the original [Dragnet (1951)] episode. Along with Jack Webb, both episodes featured Harry Bartell as Father Rojas, Ralph Moody as Mr. Flavin (pawn shop owner) and Herb Vigran as the hotel desk clerk. Both also had the same main title announcer, George Fenneman.
This is the one Dragnet case that is known to not have happened in Los Angeles. The original incident actually happened at a church in San Fernando.
A remake of the [Dragnet (1951)] episode "The Big Baby Jesus", and the only episode from the previous series remade for this one. This story was also used in the original radio series.
Although this episode is from 1967, the opening credits are from 1970 while the end theme/credits say Dragnet 1969.
