Mitchell has been stuffed into a crate and is being shipped off to Shanghai, when Stanley comes to his rescue. He knocks on the box and says, "S'alright?" From inside, Mitchell says, "Yeah, s'alright." This is a clear and touching reference to ventriloquist Señor Wences (1896-1999) who, when this show was produced, at age 102 was at the end of his very long career in which his trademark was speaking to his compadre Pedro by opening the lid of his box and saying, "S'alright?" to which Pedro would reply, "S'alright."
