Filmed at Korbel...a real honest to goodness winery in Sonoma County.
planktonrules16 August 2021
When the story begins, two conmen are about to pull off a bit deal when they are discovered. Unfortunately, the pair are able to escape and the FBI takes the case because it involves stolen securities as well as crossing state lines.

Soon Glen Frye (Ray Danton, not the guy from The Eagles) heads to Sonoma and the town of Guerneville in search of his old partner, Temple (Suzanne Pleshette). It seems that although she stole $10,000 from Glen and left him in a lurch, he's an idiot in love and wants her back. As for her, she's not thrilled to see him, as she's found an old rich guy (Gene Raymond) who wants to marry her. He apparently owns one of the largest vineyards in California. Can the FBI catch up to these two crooks before they destroy the old man and take his fortune?

I was very impressed by this episode because normally every episode of the series is filmed around the greater Los Angeles area. But this time, they have gone about 7-8 hours from LA to Guerneville, a winemaking town in famous Sonoma County...which is about an hour north of San Francisco. In fact, they filmed at the Korbel Winery...which produces sparkling wines and is still operating today.

The location shooting as well as the writing and acting were all exceptional. It was especially nice to see the 1930s film star Gene Raymond (husband of Jeanette MacDonald) in the show. All in all, an interesting and enjoyable episode.

By the way, even great shows make small mistakes. In one scene, Ray Danton's character is at a restaurant enjoying a bottle of wine. Soon Pleshette's character joins him. At this point, the bottle is about 80% full. When he then pours it, it's only about 25% full. And, when he puts the bottle down and the camera pulls back, there is no bottle at all!
