John Abbott (as Professor Mavello) is fired from "Parkey's Giant Circus" - for drunkenness. The British-born ventriloquist walks to nearby Coral Key, where he uses his ventriloquism to make it seem like Flipper is speaking. Delighting Bud (Tommy Norden), Sandy (Luke Halpin), and other children, he decides on a new act - "Professor Marvello and His Talking Dolphin!" The circus man tells Sandy and Bud he wishes to take Flipper away, but the brothers refuse. Using ventriloquism, Abbott has Flipper agree to leave, saying, "Professor Marvello will take good care of me." Ricks (Brian Kelly) does not believe Flipper can talk. Abbott and some circus workers go to net Flipper; but, when Bud interrupts, they net the boy instead
Abbott performs amicably as the ventriloquist who drinks too much, but the episode is unsatisfying. It's difficult to believe the Ricks kids believe Flipper has suddenly developed the ability to speak - especially, since the dolphin says nothing that would clarify him as the their pet. Also, the "climatic ending" does not register as a very effective plan to capture Flipper.
