Excellent dialogue and clever plot twists mark this superior segment of "Four Star Playhouse" pitting Charles Boyer and guest star Beverly Garland in a delicious war of wills.
Set on the Quebec border, tale is set during a snowstorm, with radio broadcasts concerning a murderer on the loose, escaped from pison just before his scheduled execution. Charles Boyer has car trouble and seeks help at the home of good samaritan Beverly Garland, and almost immediately both ther intentions adn behavior are suspect. Key details include a missing $50,000 that her husband stole when killing his uncle, yet to be recovered. The coincidence of Boyer stopping for help a the home of the murderer's wife is quite formidable.
Both actors are terrific, and thrown into the mix is a cute as Shirley Temple daughter (played by Mimi Gibson, an innocent character. The resolution of the mystery and suspense is quite satisfying, and executed with dispatch. Boyer's charm yet sinister looks and Garland's tough as nails approach are riveting.
