"We're Gonna Get A Horse."
Movie-ManDan1 August 2016
This episode is a mixed bag with me, mainly because of how family-oriented it tries to be. Nothing wrong with that, but as I've said before, it sometimes loses its realism.

Danny and Becky invite the family on the set of a special farm edition of "Wake Up San Fransisco" where DJ instantly falls in love with a horse named Rocket. She lies and schemes her way into being with the horse more often. She figures that by showing how good she is with it and how she can juggle the responsibility, she would be obliged into owning Rocket. Hilarity ensues soon after.

DJ has always been perhaps the most spoiled out of the sisters. I hate the episodes that show how sanctimonious she is. She lies and disobeys her father, and gets her little sister and best friend involved. She's 12 and a major daddy's girl. When Danny confronts her about the whole thing, she cries and Danny consoles her. If that was my dad at that age, he would have taken away so many privileges and not have consoled me in the slightest. This is how this episode tries to be as "family" as possible.

Luckily, there are some funny bits and the subplot with Jesse and Becky is good.

Gotta have a horse

The Tanner's take a trip to the barn where Becky and Danny are doing a special Saturday edition of Wakeup San Francisco. D. J. sees a horse and falls in love with it. She starts to ask her father if she can have it (since she'd only have to pay stable fee), but realizes that he was about to say no. So instead, she decides to own it without permission and prove that she could take care of it.

She and Kimmie come up with the deal to split the stable fee of $100. Kimmie bails at the last minute, leaving D. J. with only half the money. So what's a girl to do? Take it home!

We can already imagine Danny's reaction when he sees the horse in his house. He is very upset with D. J., and I'm glad to say he doesn't let her off the hook lightly. Instead, she's punished and does not get to keep the horse. But when D. J. gets back to the stable, she gets a surprise!

The One With D.J.'s Horse...

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. I loved seeing all of the animals, the horses, the chickens, they were just so freaking adorable. I love that D.J. learned some responsibility, but I hated that she got off so easily.

In this episode, D.J. and Kimmy buy a horse and they share him, for a time. But when Kimmy can't come up with her share of the fees for the stable, D.J. has to give him up. Danny finds out what she had done and was very lenient. Meanwhile, Jesse continuously strikes out on his attempts to date Rebecca.

Overall, I give this episode a 6 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Good.

No matter what D.J. does she never gets punished, no consequences. But in this one she learns an important lesson! If you lie and get caught Daddy will make sure that you get a horse. Seriously, his lack of parenting is sickening, and hi kids will grow up knowing that they can get away with anything if they cry for 2 seconds.
