(#1.10) came out 5 years before Enemy Mine (1985) which has a similar plot. The film is about a space fighter pilot (Dennis Quaid) whom along with his nemesis; a reptilian extra terrestrial (Louis Gossett Jr.) crashes on a volcanic planet when their ships are both damaged in a space battle and both human and alien are forced to put aside their prejudices and they begin to understand each other and they become friends.
Kent McCord and Barry Van Dyke were both highly displeased by being completely excluded from the episode. Subsequently the two, along with Robyn Douglass, planned to protest by sitting out production of planned future episodes had the series continued.
