- [last lines]
- Halcyon Renard: Goliath, you saved my soul, if not my life. Can't I at least repay you by transporting you all back to New York?
- Goliath: No. I have my own destiny to face. I realize now that the hand of fate has guided us to every place we've gone on our journey. I must see it through to the end. But, Elisa, if you wish to return with Renard...
- Elisa Maza: Are you *kidding*? You guys would be lost without me. Besides, I've got some vacation time coming.
- [Elisa and Goliath walk off]
- Halcyon Renard: Let's go home, Mr. Vogel. I'm tired.
- Preston Vogel: It has been an adventure, sir.
- Elisa Maza: I'm sorry, I'm sort of lost.
- Max Loew: You are American. - What are you looking for?
- Elisa Maza: [slight chuckle] New York.
- Max Loew: That is a long way from Prague.
- Preston Vogel: How did you get here?
- Goliath: A better question would be: how do I get home?
- Preston Vogel: Well that would be your problem. Mr. Renard has made it clear he can't help you. Good-bye.
- Goliath: So this Golem is a protector?
- Max Loew: Yes. But the spell to awaken him has been lost for 400 years. The golem sat lifeless in this room, until tonight. When it was stolen by Tomas Brod. And Brod's the reason we need the golem so badly now. He and his criminal mob are making life impossible for the innocent law-abiding. I failed to stop him. This is all my fault.
- Goliath: NO! Brod is to blame!... And possibly one other.
- [Starts to leave]
- Angela: Where are you going?
- Goliath: To talk to someone I *thought* I knew.
- Halcyon Renard: I told you to leave me alone!
- Goliath: You are a man of great integrity, Renard. What has happened?
- Halcyon Renard: Integrity is a luxury I can no longer afford. My illness has seen to that. I discovered an incantation which will transfer my soul into the golem. It is my last chance to move... To live again.
- Goliath: This golem protects the people of Prague. What you are doing is wrong!
- Halcyon Renard: I don't recall asking for your opinion.
- Halcyon Renard: [to Angela] Don't make me hurt you.
- [Angela charges him. He throws her into some book shelves]
- Halcyon Renard: I warned her.
- Elisa Maza: You're enjoying this!
- Halcyon Renard: No... You don't understand... Uh it's not my fault. I have no choice.
- Max Loew: There is always a choice!
- Halcyon Renard: [to Goliath] How can you judge me? Your body has not betrayed you!
- Max Loew: Our judgement does not matter... You must be able to live with yourself.
- Halcyon Renard: And if I can't? What's my alternative? Accept my fate? Quietly wither away to *nothing*?
- Goliath: My friend, is this a better destiny? Giving up all you believe in for a piece of clay?
- [long pause; Renard releases Goliath]
- Halcyon Renard: What have I become?
- Max Loew: [as the golem is about to drop Brod down a hole] No! This is not right. You must follow the words of our ancestors. "Love justice and do mercy."
- [the transfer is reversed, and Renard re-awakens in his own body]
- Preston Vogel: Welcome back, Mr. Renard.
- Goliath: You do not face the future alone, my friend.
